Would Nexstar be able to accommodate her with an Atlanta facility?

tbh I wouldn’t be surprised Gray hired her for WANF-WPCH once her noncompete ends. She’d be ideal for an old-school lifestyle talk show that can be syndicated throughout the chain and they’d have the facilities for it.

I can see WOIO/WUAB carrying that show.

Having Robin with Gray makes more sense than with Nexstar/NN.

On Monday, Tegna’s WBNS (Columbus) parted ways with News Director Jennifer Nickels.

According to sources, the decision was due to a loss of sponsorships and high turnover at the station. Mason Waldvogel is currently serving as the acting news director while the station searches for a replacement.

In an email to staff, station General Manager John Cardenas informed employees of the change.

Nickels' Twitter bio previously listed her as the news director at 10TV, but that information has since been removed. It is unclear what her future plans are at this time

    {How the mighty as fallen over at Twin Rivers Drive}

WBNS used to be tops in Columbus, but now that honor goes to WSYX.

For me, the death knell was when old shows like "Hawaii Five-O" and "Magnum, P.I." were revived.  However good they may be, it indicates to me that the Hollywood creative community is woefully dry on ideas.  And all the game, reality (including news), and contest programs (such as "America's Got Talent") are ways to fill prime time as cheaply as possible (come on, do we really need two hours of "20/20" and "Dateline" on Friday nights?). One problem, I think, is that there are too many channels and not enough programming to fill them all. Also, I can't think of a lineup today that excites people like CBS's Saturday-night block in the '70s or NBC's "must-see-TV" Thursday block in the '80s and '90s. Further, it's the very fact that we have computers and online streaming that makes it so hard for television as we've always known it to attract an audience.  The simple fact is what is happening is the same thing that happened to old-style "30s and '40s radio when television came in.

Don't forget the revivals of Roseanne, Murphy Brown and Will and Grace back around 2018 among the old shows revived.

  4. I will gladly take a Ridiculousness marathon any time over even one minute of Basketball Wives.

I also thought of Bravo, which has become one hot mess of a channel, and A&E.  Nothing but reality shows on both.  One is known for "housewives" and the other is known for anything involving police and courtrooms.

  5. Has anyone noticed how channels like IFC, TLC and VH1 have become completely different than what they were 20 or even 30 years ago?  They are nothing more than networks with different acronyms.

  6. Barbara really was a trailblazer.  She paved way for everyone to come after her, and her legacy continues to last on both NBC and ABC.

I think whatever tribute The View will pay should last more than one day.  I have a feeling that show will have a Barbara feature one day throughout the year.

This makes me wonder if the plan is for ID to take over HLN's channel space on most cable systems once the latter is fully shut down.

What would make sense is to simply move HLN over to ID and not have to change channel positions.  Both channels with similar makes one necessary and the other redundant.

Former CNN media reporter Brian Stelter writes about the demise of HLN for The Atlantic:

    The End of Companion Television

CNN’s Headline News may seem thoroughly old-fashioned now that it’s dead. But its demise is a reminder of the creeping nature of media obsolescence.

Kind of ironic that Stelter wrote this after he was let go from CNN.
