WKYC has turned What Matters Most from a newscast name into an overall station slogan. The 6pm news tonight was identified as "3News at 6" instead of What Matters Most.

Now WEWS is doing better than WKYC.

This article from last year paints a picture on how the Cleveland stations did in the ratings.
-
WKYC used to be #1 a lot at 11 until the 2019 makeover. They have lost a lot of viewers. If they are rebounding, good for them.

WOIO/WUAB has added Ana García and Cristina García to join Steven Hernández as part of the team for the new WTCL Telemundo Cleveland station starting on January 10.

WTCL Telemundo Cleveland has announced its start date for its local news operations: January 10.

Spectrum in Cleveland has created a new cable spot for the new Telemundo station. It's on 17, where Court TV used to air (it moved to 16). However, it's listed on the guide as WOHZ and is showing CBS Lima.

Melissa Mack has left WJW for the second time after today. The station mentioned on the 4pm news that the meteorologist is planning to spend more time with family. Dontae Jones is taking over her 4pm and 7pm weather duties.

It appears that WTCL 6 is on the air in Cleveland. Telemundo on 6.1 and Circle on 6.2.
The HD feeds of WOIO and WUAB are also on 19.10 and 43.10.
-
WJW is adding Ken Carmen (morning guy at radio WKRK) and John Sabol (brother of morning meteorologist Scott and most recently in Florida) to its sports team. P.J. Ziegler is getting a bigger role, while Andre Knott also remains part of the team.

Could Chris Wallace also be in the running to replace Chris Cuomo in primetime?
-
Sounds like either TEGNA doesn't actually want to be sold or wants to go through with it on its terms.
-
Has WEWS removed its "On Your Side" slogan/campaign? I hear it was removed from their mic flags.
-
I'm also getting sick of the ranting and slander on this thread. It is making the posts unattractive.

I wonder if the technical aspects will improve under the new GM once he comes in.

Project: Veritas has struck again, this time at TEGNA. Look through Twitter and you'll find an interview with a former KENS promotions producer, who gave Veritas a diversity/inclusion module from this past summer.
FTVLive chewed out the guy who took part in the interview.

Ron Regan, chief investigator at WEWS, has announced on his Facebook page that he is retiring at the end of December.

FTVLive is reporting some big changes involving the Saturday night 11pm newscast on WKYC. It's changing from news to a show with a more comedic angle.

Gotta get that Gray trademark on everything (WBAY launched a "First Alert Fastcast on Facebook" this morning, which I'm sure Jeff Laurence loved to say
)! I'm surprised the smoke alarm company hasn't challenged them for dilution despite their different industries.
"First Alert" was what played into WOIO using the "First. Fair. Everywhere." slogan on its newscasts. The "First" part replaced "Honest," which goes back to the "Action News" heyday.

To be honest, I bet Live PD would draw better ratings on NewsNation than any of their programming, as it was number 1 in primetime on its respective days before A&E canned it last year.
I would not be surprised if NewsNation picks up Live PD as an attempt to boost ratings.

Well, it looks like the two options for Tegna are the overlapping letters, and the WVEC / .
Hopefully WKYC is next, What i've seen thus far is promising after the a-bomb that went off there with the "elevator 3" branding.
Cleveland Scene magazine readers had voted WKYC as the best news operation (then again, Mike Polk, Jr. had been voted best comedian).
Yet, it's WJW Fox 8 that's tops in Cleveland. WEWS seems to do better than WKYC too.
"3News" has become more unwatchable to me. The focus on infotainment and questionable hirings is too distracting for me to sit through. Plus, a lot of the recent hires in the last two years have not stayed long.
I would like see them return to "Channel 3," but that would likely take some changes in management.

What about WKYC? Could the new company sell the station or if they hold onto it, change from the approach they adapted back in late 2019?
Speaking of 3, I came across something interesting in this post on one of their blogs. It has to do with its newscasts:
This seems to say that WKYC might be doing better in the ratings, even with its format switch and creative brandings.
Could all of that go away ownership changes?
