Natasha Verma posted on social media that she's co-anchoring the Sunday night newscasts with Arthur Chien during football season. Also, no on-camera meteorologist tonight, they just showed the forecast.
-
Her Linkedin has the #OpenToWork tag.
-
Oops I see this was reported above.
-
And WNBC did it again this week. Same for MSNBC, they had their weekend people. WABC brought in Bill and Sade for the 11pm news.
-
PIX11 news went on right after the Mets game ended at ~4:50pm on Sunday. Kaity came on, but announced that they were switching to NewsNation for coverage of the Biden news. Not clear if they ever went back to local because I'd had enough of them after five minutes, but she was on at 10 with local news. I know that NN was still on at 6pm when The Broadway Show was supposed to air.

WNBC is the only one of the O&O not to bring in their weekday anchors for the 11pm newscast on Sunday to cover the Biden news. In other interesting (or unusual) news, Dave Price is doing Sports Final at midnight.
-
Maurice and Kristine are in at 11pm or the breaking news coverage. Kristine just shared that she was working at the network this afternoon when the news broke and went on the air within minutes of the announcement.
-
Bill and Sade are there at 11. No Mike Marza. Joe and Tanya were also there.
-
Why? What did he add to the prepared script over just having an anchor read it?
-
Never understood how they put a meteorologist in as the traffic person, or whether the person cares and gets upset about it. At least they don't pull in a reporter like they often do at WPIX (except when Star Harvey does it) and used to do at WCBS (before they got rid of their in-person traffic person entirely). Maybe they get paid extra for doing it?

Tanya Rivero was just introduced as their new weekend evening anchor by Bill Ritter before she reported a story. She had most recently been at CBS and previously anchored ABC WNN (World News Now), which Liz Cho once anchored many years ago, (obviously). I still remember being pleasantly surprised when she showed up on air on the local news.
-
Is she permanent? I realized after posting that odds are they're not hiring a (newly) 50-year-old woman for that slot, anyway.
-
Lee Goldberg did the weather on World News Tonight on Friday from somewhere near the water (after not being on the early local news, not sure if he showed up at 11). Dani Beckstrom handled it tonight (Sunday).
-
And still no replacement. I just noticed that Amy Freeze has left Fox Weather (Amy Freeze | LinkedIn). ABC could do far worse than to bring her back. Found this article about her departure https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2024/5/13/freezing-out-amy-at-fox

They've started having Liv Johnson do the weather on the 6pm weekday newscast. Nick Gregory is still doing the 5pm and 10pm shows.

That seems crazy to me. They're salaried employees. It's not like they're paid by the hour. Do you think they get compensatory time off when there's a major news event and they need to be on the air for extra hours or anchor on the weekend after a big event? Wouldn't only freelance reporters by paid hourly? Certainly not their main anchors. I can't speak for Maurice and Christine, but I can tell you that reporters like Jenna DeAngelis and Lisa Rozner post on IG and always seem to be thrilled when they do the hourly CBS Newsbreak segments on the weekend. I doubt it's because they get a day off during the week for doing it (if they do at all) or get paid extra for working overtime. Seems like they like the exposure.
-
They need to do the pregame show somewhere. If not on WPIX, they'd had to put it on the schedule at SNY, which wouldn't make a lot of sense when WPIX has the game.
-
Has anyone seen Andrea since she left the anchor chair? She hasn't been on social media since she left, but she's still listed on the CBS website. I don't watch WCBS enough to say definitively that she hasn't been on any newscast as a reporter.
-
Liv Johnson has joined as meteorologist/reporter combo, replacing Regan. She's doing weather tonight, I think she also did it last weekend one day but Audrey posted a picture of her in the studio so maybe she was there to help if needed.
-
Yeah, that seemed strange.

I was coming here to post that Joelle Garguilo was leaving WNBC/Today with Hoda and Jenna/E! News and I wondered if she was going to be replacing Sandy, since I couldn't see her leaving those jobbs for anything else. Then I found this article, dated today. Joelle Garguilo Joins WABC-TV Channel 7 Eyewitness News New York as an Entertainment Reporter - (laughingplace.com) BTW, here's an interesting article about her from the SUNY Albany magazine (she's a graduate). UAlbany Magazine - University at Albany - SUNY

Bill Ritter doing the Sunday 11pm news tonight. He wasn't on at 6. Can't be because of high viewership, since ABC didn't have the Super Bowl. I'm assuming that WCBS will have their regular weekday crew when their news finally comes on (update - they are).
-
I always used to enjoy The Debrief where he'd go around the newsroom talking to different reporters about their stories. Is this the same format? I guess I'll record tomorrow morning's 10am TINY and see.
-
Did anyone watch the streaming to see if they ran it? I didn't see any mention of it when they signed off just before 7am. They did start at 4:30, but made no mention of the later start time. And amusingly, WABC started their news at 4am on Tuesday because of the weather.

Today in New York at 7 a.m. — Watch Live Coverage From NBC 4 New York on the NBC New York app and streaming channel – NBC New York I do not intend to be watching live :). And their own schedule also shows the broadcast show starting at 4:30 starting tomorrow. WATCH LIVE: News 4 New York - NBC New York And the ad in the 11pm news says 4:30-7. Have yet to see anything advertising the streaming portion.
