  1. Yes, that's too bad, I always liked her. I wouldn't be surprised if her leaving is why Kiran was hired.
  2. Thanks. I was wondering whose newscast that was.
  3. Kiran Dhllon has joined WPIX from WCBS. She was on the PIX11 Weekend Morning News today.
  4. Every day, it seems. Normal image first in the 5:30-ish time, then the half size with huge map around 5:46. Check it out today.
  5. Does anyone here watch the Fox5 evening news? Their weather reports are odd. One report they show the meteorologist fully height with the weather map like the other stations do. But then one segment per hour they show the map double the height of the weather person, kind of like they do on Fox Weather. I was going to ask Audrey but I'm not sure that she answers messages, but noticed they do it iwth Nick Gregory too, so many I'll try reaching out to him
  6. Yes, and Liz Cho came back today and acknowledged that she and her family had Covid, and they were rather bad cases (but obviously not hospitalization level bad, but also not mild cold level as many have reported getting).
  7. Byron and Chris won't have to work weekends anymore. Star seems to have an interesting story.
  8. Surprised they did that, given that they pre-empted their regular programming to show that. I already had no idea why they take off their regular programming to show soccer in the middle of the day on a weekday.
  9. That seniors comment was really unnecessary. I would usually have no problem switching to Localish for shows that are pre-empted, and wish that they did it more often, although in this case I wasn't home and DVR'ed Jeopardy (fortunately, this senior is smart enough to know how to do that) and wouldn't have been happy if it had moved. But they've made a big deal about their streaming channels, so I don't see any reason why they shouldn't have directed people to it for the news conference.
  10. WNBC and WABC have gone back to regular programming at 1pm. WCBS still has the news (Maurice and Dana are in early and anchoring). Update - WCBS going back to regular programming at 2pm for... soccer.
  11. FWIW, this constant coverage when they don't know all the details, it's not a current situation and no new information is coming in doesn't seem warranted. I know that it's a big story and a terrible thing that happened, but having the anchors and reporters just talking about what happened is not a good use of air time when they could be showing regularly scheduled shows. They could easily have broken in when more information became available.
  12. Amy Freeze worked weekend mornings and had the shortest shift of the weather folks, so she certainly would not have left because of her schedule. And she left to start up a new national weather network. And the schedule you mentioned is the same for the morning anchors.
  13. Why would they need five when two of them only work weekends? WPIX just added a weekend morning newscast, and they're having their weekday morning meteorologists to work one day each weekend. Then they seem to get a day off during the week and the weekend evening person covers their morning slot.
  14. While I don't doubt that they aspire to end up in the studio, it would have to be as an anchor, not as the traffic person (which I don't see as an equivalent position). Rebecca certainly seemed to be enjoying filling in last week, but I'd be surprised if she would want to do it on a full-time basis.
  15. I often wonder how the reporters who are moved to traffic feel about doing it, and whether they wouldn't rather be out in the field reporting. Obviously in this case it's just temporary, but WCBS had both Jenna Deangelis and Natalie Duddridge on traffic before getting rid of the spot on their morning news.
  16. Liz was back today. My wife was watching and said that no mention was made of why she was out, but she was obviously given a warm welcome back.
  17. I wanted to mention that I think that Jessica is excellent. She has done early AM and weekend spots, as well as the usual weekday afternoon/evening. She recently won her first Emmy Award from her News12 days. I am proud to see that she's actually from my town in Westchester.
  18. It probably also doesn't help that they haven't added a traffic reporter. John and Alex Denis used to be a great combination.
  19. John got screwed when he was moved to weekends, he posted at once point that it was not his choice. As for Elise, she's bland, as is the entire weekday morning show.
  20. I think she was on maternity then. But she never returned to anchoring regularly, and doesn't seem to fill in as often as Natalie Duddrige or even Ali Bauman do these days.
  21. Although she was off last week, I just noticed that Adelle's Instagram handle is now Adelle4NY and her description says that she's on 4-7am every morning. So she's finally the permanent replacement for Lauren. Update: I noticed that they still have @AdelleCaballero on the screen, but that's not what she's currently using on IG.
  22. Yes, but at least she posts occasionally. I was just trying to figure out what Christina Park has been up to after walking away because of her concerns over an unsafe work environment due to construction. The only activity I've seen from her is two tweets last year when Kat Creag passed away (and I hadn't noticed those until today).
  23. She would have to do it remotely from Florida. And I don't want to say bad things about people, but from what I have seen on IG, I think she's not really TV-presentable these days. Not like it's happening, anyway. But yes, great news for Kirstin and Craig. I'm guessing the powers that be do not see Kala as anchor material.
  24. The answer is Kirstin and Craig, per her IG.
