Finally, the FIRST version of WTSP's 1992 weeknight talent bump!

What was a KSAZ weekend like in 1994? *coyote howl*

Here is rare WTEN news footage focusing on a snowstorm that hit the area in 1987. News open is seen at 0:17 into the video with ID at the beginning.
I knew that WTEN's Open would resemble WPRI somehow -- typical Knight Ridder at the time (WTKR and KTVY had similar, short opens as well).
Now if we could only find some more WNYT, that would make my day.

KPNX weekend 1994 from ewjxn:
And he's also got some WXYZ in there (when exactly did they debut those graphics, it was definitely between Dec. 1995 & May 1996)

I'd really love if he could upload some KOCO from when they built their new studio in 1980...
-
I also found on the NMSA that they added a sampler of KFOR's "News Team 4" open. I wonder where that was found? Anything from KFOR from the early 90s is pure rare.

KREM reveals its JC Burns intro at the end of this clip
And now, the moment you've all been waiting for... the Arizona 5-minute News!!

Going back on KSDK using Hearst-inspired graphics, I wonder if you can actually find demo reels from that company during the 1990s. They are my second favorite design company, the first being Tvbd/JC Burns.
Also, a KPHO Brief from 1994, during their "Fresh News" era. If you look in the description, you'll see ewjxn's working on uploading the first five minutes of this newscast tomorrow, meaning another rare Phoenix gem will be uploaded!

And a full KOCO show from the same year
Wow, KOCO went through a lot of open changes through the mid 1980s - 3 months prior they were still using the old Gannett graphics and had a slightly different set, which dated back to 1980. Then a year later, KOCO had a talent bump included in its open, and after that, ditched "Hello News" in favor of "Power News".
Also that's Bob Vernon doing the VO. Interestingly enough, he used to work at former station sister WLKY.

More KWTV for you all

A KSDK promo from October 1996 with a graphics package I haven't seen, just try and guess what it's inspired by!
That Package must've been used for promos only, because they held on to the 1993 opens until late 1997.
Anyway, here's some Connecticut News from 1996 - earliest I've seen 'TNH with First News

KOCO in 1987 -- so THAT's where Ron Gardner went (KARK had a report about his alleged "disappearance")
There's also a little KWTV in that too:

Got another rip off for ya:

KSAZ promos from January 8, 1995, promoting new Fox shows. Meanwhile, 5 digits up the dial, KNXV, the former Fox Affiliate, would officially join ABC the following day.

Starts out with a shot of his John Christopher Burns-designed business card (and other graphics that still jump off the screen 20 years later!).
Yeah, Burns was a client for Pulitzer (KOAT's owner). His work popped up on KOAT's sister stations as well, mainly WYFF, KCCI, WDSU, and WGAL. (WESH doesn't count cause they were still H&C owned when they debuted Jcbd's graphics in 1992).
By the way, speaking of WYFF, I'm now on the hunt for finding footage from that station from the 1990s. So far, all we have is the 1990 news update, a 1991-92 promo and update which can both be found on Facebook, some 1993-94 promos on YouTube, a short open from 1994 on NewsActive3's compilations, and a partial newscast which incorrectly stated that the station was WSPA in the video title.

So recently we found KPNX's 1992-93 "Your choice for Real Life, Real News in the 90s" open, which resembled that of WCCO's open from that same time frame in some ways. I wonder if Wow & Flutter were also the composers of KPNX's 1992 theme besides their Everyday Music Package?
-
Never thought that KPNX Open resembled WCCO's... I even wonder if Wow & Flutter were the composers for that 1992 Theme...
Now I just want to see an open from their "Real News" era (1989-90). From what I've seen, I think it would look VERY similar to what sister station WXIA's open looked like (which actually debuted in 1986).

Who's this guy?
I do think he was a client of Gillett Broadcasting circa the 1980s.

It's back on youtube!
Even more ironic? They have an "XD" in their call letters -- the same as a laughing emoji!

I just commented on one of ewjxn's KPNX 1992 videos and he says he's working on a June 1991 newscast to be uploaded.

KTVI weekend in 1980 using On Top Of It All-- and a young Bryan Busby doing the weather.

Even though ewjxn has been uploading mostly late '80s-early '90s Phoenix material, the next thing I would love to see is some KPNX news from 1979 when they changed their call letters. I've always had this theory that the Gannett "Death Star" ID started earlier than 1981:
According to the top story, this aired on January 20, 1981, leading me to believe the Gannett station IDs started way earlier. I'd also like to see some KTVK from their "Count On Us" era (1978-1980).

WAVE 3 in 1989 -- a tail end of their first Tvbd set of opens appears at 5:57. I wonder if the full open can be found anywhere. (However it would probably resemble the same kind of opens that were used by WFTV, WTHR, WFSB, etc.)

A KYW news brief with "Production Music: Newscenter"... pretty weird that there is abundant stuff from the early '80s of WCAU and WPVI but there's just this huge gap between 1980 and 1986 for KYW.
