This is almost certainly the biggest "MSNBC Shakeup" in the network's entire history.

The obvious next move from Scripps is a poison pill, as the game is afoot.

Pure Gordon Gekko stuff right here.

CBS Ending Late Show after 2025-26 Season

It is more likely that they will give the job to a Jimmy Fallon type or even someone as political but willing to do a cheaper show (Jon Stewart and Comedy Central have just re-upped for another year, despite how the group treated his longtime comedy partner.) -

This company is PIX11's godfather, so that's another kettle of fish, especially since the brother in issue lost. -
Note that it obviously will not be transmitted for some time, so maybe they knew they had some?

This will be true until Versant stock is distributed to Comcast shareholders (including the Roberts family who will still own about a third of both Comcast and Versant and don't intend to sell either) sometime either at the end of the year or in the next.

Nothing until production completely ceases. Some films and television is shooting there and will continue to shoot there for some time yet.

CBS Ending Late Show after 2025-26 Season
AmericanErrorist replied to Georgie56's topic in General TV
Nothing has been announced, and the scuttlebutt is that the network will produce a cheaper talk show from the Broadcast Center without an audience or band or musical guests (as above, Bryon Allen has also announced his interest in that slot). -
The two sides have reached a short-term extension: https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/nbcu-youtube-tv-deal-extension-avert-blackout-1236535142/ Meanwhile, TelevisaUnivision's channels have gone dark on YTTV: https://deadline.com/2025/09/televisaunivision-networks-go-dark-youtube-tv-carriage-dispute-1236567058/

Outside of the markets where they also own major affiliates, the only property they have in those markets are transmitters, as those stations' "main studios" are in Cincinnati.

On its last days of operation, they managed to stir up a civil war in public radio by issuing a grant to PRX and several stations to set up a competing satellite program distribution interconnect in opposition to NPR's longstanding platform, and NPR is suing: https://radioink.com/2025/09/29/public-radio-fractures-as-npr-battles-cpb-over-network-control/

Weigel would have to start up a news operation and buy rights to a slate of current syndicated programming from scratch.

ESPN3 is a service provided as part of internet packages with no charge to the consumer. Every ISP that carries ESPN on a traditional video package (and many who do not) has it outside of said packages, and login is either through an ISP check or provider sign-in. The satellite and virtual TV providers carry it regardless of local station availability.

NBC, CBS, and Fox are part of the services of Peacock Premium Plus, Paramount+ with Showtime and Fox One in ways that ABC isn't a part of base Hulu, as an apparent upsell for Hulu + Live TV.

Again, no one in leadership positions in college sports cares. Enough of them are outright Trump supporters, and anyone else just wants their broadcasts to air, especially since they have no political commentary to speak of. The AFT is arguably somewhat meaningful, as their members are customers of various state and local teacher pension plans, but RSF can't do very much (I was surprised that they even have any Disney stock).
-
They truly do not care.
-
Assuming the network wants to fight back over this. They've been silent so far (this is just starting, however).
-
You could throw Fox, (non-O&O) CW and MyNet stations into the mix as well.
-
Is ABC actively looking for other stations to air the show in the affected markets?
-
At one point Fox had a separate feed filled with other 21CF programming (as this was pre‐Disney) during non-network hours on the vMVPDs but all the network feeds on Paramount+, Peacock, and Fox One and on the vMVPDs are of the affiliates, meaning they're stuck with whatever local pre-emptions have eventuated. If Disney and Nexstar or Sinclair were to ever to court, the station owners would likely claim (or counterclaim if ABC were to claim a contract violation in the initial act of preemption) a contractual right to show whatever they want on those feeds.
-
Neither Disney+ nor Hulu has any live feed of ABC (their sports programs are available on ESPN Unlimited), the only streamers co-owned with a Big 4 network to not have such a feed. No channel packages anywhere in the country are sold under the obligation that any particular programming will actually be provided. Frustrated viewers will have to beg to their cable/OTT providers for said refunds. CityTV in Canada aired Celebrity Family Feud in pattern with ABC Wednesday and then turned to Hudson & Rex, a Canadian-produced original series, through to today when they will air JKL: https://www.richmond-news.com/entertainment-news/citytv-to-replace-jimmy-kimmel-live-with-hudson-rex-11229929

ABC doesn't care about Celebrity Family Feud, a timeslot filler while they figure the Kimmel situation out. As seen above, a few other stations had already pre-empted it with more local news without consequence.
