Working from 4:30-1 is 8 and a half hours in the building. (not to mention getting there, among other things) No one else in the Eyewitness News anchor department hosts in a stretch more than 6 1/2. The fact that Shirleen is working 4:30-1 means at some point she'll probably go from 4:30-7 unless it's stipulated in her contract.

    Bill only works 6 1/2 (5-11:32)

    David works 4 (12 to 4:58)

    Sade works 6 1/2 (5-11:32)

    Liz works 2 1/2 (4 to 6:30)

    Sandra works 7 (5 to 12)

    Joe works 7 (5 to 12)

I don't see it being fair to force people to work for 8 and a half hours.

Ummm you do realize you’re talking about their air time right? They’re in the building longer than that prepping and such..

    Its assumed he's just covering.

PIX just hired a new Sports Anchor named Justin Walters from the "now-defuncted" FiOS 1. It's assumed that he's most likely Scott Stanford's successor during tge week since Andy Adler is most likely on the weekends

He was just covering and he said that. But he’s no longer with PIX so he may very well freelance across News12

  3. BIG issues tonight on WABC.. not sure when it happened exactly but at the top of the 5:00 hour it was commercials until about 5:10. Then Lee Goldberg broke in and gave an extended weather forecast before tossing it back to Bill and Sandra.. they got through about two stories and at the end of Toni Yates story the camera was stuck on her live shot.. they got back to the studio where the graphics from Toni story were still on screen.. they attempted to read the next story and Bill and Sandra quickly went back to commercial. 5:20 and it’s a replay of a newscast with Liz Cho ( I do not believe it’s today’s first at 4) it’s a complete mess lol definitely the computer going nuts

5:30 Lee is back on air and on Facebook live

  4. Something interesting tonight.. Liz Cho is off (not sure who filled in at 4) but Lauren Glassberg is on with Bill at 6.. from what I remember if Bill or Liz were off the other would anchor solo. I even remember them both being off the fill in person would be solo..

  5. Let’s be honest the chemistry between Steve, Lori and Bill was great.. they all just flowed well together kind of like Greg and Rosanna.. some people just “mesh” well.. it’s hard to find. I really wanted Jeff Rosen to get Steve’s position when that happened.. but Ken was obviously a great choice.. I agree with previous posts where Michelle should’ve gotten the morning show.. Shirleen would do well at like 4:00.. if an anchor shake up we’re to happen I wouldn’t mind seeing Shirleen moved a bit later.

What happened to Michelle Charlesworth and Rob Nelson on the weekends? I have not been watching as much on weekends because of the summer. I turned it on last weekend and this morning and they are not on. I love Rob and Michelle. I see Amy is still on. I hope this is just temporary. I remember Rob saying awhile back Michelle  was going to fill in on weekday mornings or something but do not panic she would be back.

Rob is probably off.. Michelle is covering weekdays for Shirleen.

No offense to Stacey-Ann, but I'm not a fan. Her delivery is choppy. Craig definitely has a warmer presence. I hope it was his choice to leave.

Jeff Berardelli has been a good substitute. I have seen him sub in on WCBS and WPIX within the last month, but wasn't it his choice to leave the tv news business a while back? The weird thing I find about him is that he doesn't like to refer to the anchor's name when they throw it to him to talk about the weather or when he throws it back to the anchor(s). It might be a small thing, but it makes him less personable.

On a related note, I once saw a female meteorologist filling-in on WNYW and thought she did a really great job. Her delivery was good and she seemed very knowledgeable. I can't remember her name, but she had blonde hair. I think she has potential to be a #1 market meteorologist,

If it was this past weekend it was Regan Medgie.. if it was more than a few weeks ago then it was Samantha Augeri.. she actually left FOX5 and is back at News12 Long Island.

Let's stop with the Bill Evans conspiracy theories please!  Nothing against Bill who has done NYC Weather since '86 along with Sam Champion.

However, he's mostly focusing on his radio show out east- Sag Harbor to be exact. Fox is NOT going to offer Bill a big generous deal like Ernie Anastos way back in the day.. Those big deals are over.

As for the other 2 points: Audrey in the morning & Mid-day does sound like a good feel. Gives Mike Woods a break until the 7AM hour of GDNY. I'm not too solid on Joe as of yet to get one of the vacated positions. Right now to me Kerry Drew is a clear shoe-in for the GDWU. At this point it's about pairings.

Bill Evans has stated numerous times on Facebook that he’ll be back on TV. Just a matter of time before he can announce where

Former WNBC reporter Kerry Barrett has started her own business doing media training and consulting.

Also this promo just ran on WNBC: "The only all local morning team is on Today In New York".

What does that mean?  Who on the other morning newscasts are not local to the tri-state area?

I saw that.. I was thinking it’s a hit at WABC with Sam Champion splitting time between NY and Fri Sat Sun in Florida.. not really sure tho lol

The Noon Show or, wait for it..."FOX 5 News at Noon"? Both OnTvTonight and TV Guide has their listings reported as the latter title, suggesting the noon newscast returns, eventually coming into fruition.

https://www.tvguide.com/listings/?ServiceID=76164 (if it doesn't list nyc listings where you at, you can change)

It’ll be interesting to see who anchors.. I would think probably Lori and Rosanna but then again you never know with FOX5.

What I meant was, does any other station get rid of their "Traffic & Weather" branding then bring it back as CBS2 does?

I think the only stations that do the traffic/weather branding are 2,4 and 7.. WNBC does “weather and traffic on the 4s..” and WABC does “7minutes”/ “Weather&Heather”.. the rest do weather and traffic but they don’t really have a name for it

  12. So I have a question.. has WCBS made any morning news promos with all of them standing together m? Or have they just used clips from the show? I ask because Bill Evans once again responded back to someone on Facebook saying that he’d be back on tv “soon”.. now WCBS is really the only one I can think of that he’s going too. Unless something is in the works at FOX5 that we don’t know about. I highly doubt PIX..

I have a feeling they will continue to use this music until they switch to the new building. The music is good, just wish they could use more of their package.

I’ve always preferred the “ABC 7” branding better than the “Channel 7” but I doubt that ever change lol. I think they should rebrand themselves as ABC 7 for consistency especially since their website is called “ABC 7 NY”. I feel like saying “Channel Seven” in 2020 is like so dated. They switched back to the “Channel 7” branding in 2004. I remember we had a big discussion on that back then on this site haha.

I remembered one of the arguments was that the word “Chan-nel” was easier to say than “A-B-C”. Flows better, less syllables.

Another argument was the audience, older folks especially the baby boomers and native New Yorkers whom watch the broadcast call it “Channel 7”.

     Where in conversation they would say;

“Yo, did you see that story on Channel Seven? That was Crazy!” Lol. With that New Yawk accent haha.

Out of curiosity, I’ve always wondered, does anyone know if they include Sam Champion for the Friday talent Morning and Noon opens since Sam does not work on Fridays?

Yes. They use the talent open fir both shows on Fridays

Wait, they added an actual video screen there? I thought that was just an Accuweather-themed backdrop they occasionally superimpose stuff over.

It’s a video screen as of a few weeks ago..
