Cool! up until recently it was hard to find any WABC news clips from about 98-04!

My guess is, 6-7am is a critical hour on the big 3 networks because it's their audiences' last chance to get local news before the switch to a national morning show. Stations like Fox & The CW might want their A-Team anchors in that slot to be more competitive. In that case, a decent split would be B team 4-6 am, A-team 6-10 am and have your traffic, weather, entertainment anchors handle the fluff from 10-11am.

Exactly. why not make your actual TV channel better? Their reaction to Zucker's firing is giving me Fox News hosts crying about Roger Ailes's passing vibes. Is CNN talent not cognizant of how bad their network actually is?

Jumped the gun. From the quote below I inferred that the earlier time slot would coincide with the possible new name. The question remains though. As many stations across the country are adopting earlier start times it leads me to wonder where the AM. personal stand on this. But that's probably best for the speculation thread.

Yet another station at 4am. I wonder how the talent feels about having to get up even earlier? Moreover if 4am becomes the industry standard, will those national morning newscasts like CBS Morning News or Early Today will still be around in the years to come?

Good! CNN is a shell of its former self. It desperately needs new leadership.

Loving the CBS 2 logo in the middle of the CBS eye. Given the chance that CBS Mornings could always share the same fate as past CBS morning programs, they should probably just keep the name of the local morning show unchanged.

Challenger Disaster 36 years ago today WABC (1986) CNN coverage featuring behind the scenes footage (1986) WABC never had the best sets or graphics but they had a solid news team.

Minor observation. I've always wondered why CBS 2 News starts at 11:01pm? I suppose it has to do with advertising?

I wonder what the reasoning be behind adding a second anchor soely for 6 AM hour? I think Regan has a bubbly personality and would fair better in the 7-10am. Bianca has a calm demeanour and would anchor well with Dan in the more strictly news Good Day Wake Up.

The KDKA black and gold is the best looking that I've seen so far amongst the CBS O&Os. It's a departure from the usual blue or white box look on most TV news casts. That being said it would look nice if each individual CBS affiliate could have their own tweaks to the standard graphics package for individuality. As for the CBS News streaming graphics, it's the typical white box flatness, but it works nonetheless. really digging the textured world map element to the CBS News Mornings orange package. Overall the rebrand works though I thought they'd call it something like "CBS News+" to distinguish the national streaming feed from the TV network.

Damn! Brian would have been good. If not Brian then who else, Shepard Smith?

wnyw and wnbc and wpix seem to have very erratic anchor line ups, especially in the mornings. wcbs and wabc have been pretty consistent with their am and pm pairings.

I see Regan Medgie was anchoring with Dan in the 6am hour, presumably since 4:30 am. Bianca is with Rosanna as of 7am.

Love that they restored the footage quality. I like how dim the old lighting looks, everything in the HD era appears so washed out these days. Back to Today (1952) Im surprised news tickers were utilized this early into broadcast tv.

Intro from the first "Oprah" episode after 9/11:

Based on the stories I'm seeing, is it not news 12 Brooklyn anymore, is it just generalized news from nyc or just Brooklyn & the Bronx?

Jane's departure wasn't as strained as the others listed but it played out awkwardly due to the hype surrounding it.

I don't recall Ann in the flashbacks. Did Deborah Norville get a mention? So many anchors have left the show on less than stellar terms: Deborah, Jane, Ann, Tamron, Billy Bush, Megyn Kelly, and of course Matt. The flashback segments felt too brisk paced. In anniversaries past they really meditated on particular periods of the program to get a sense of what that time was like.

With today being "TODAY"s 70th anniversary, he's a look back at their 30th, featuring a very well written and funny "Hill Street Blues" shout out at 01:46

It was an understandably scaled down 70th because of the virus, yet still underwhelming. I'm surprised there wasn't at least a zoom panel interview with past hosts. It was just a few pre recorded tributes. I notice in the past few years (pre covid) that the plaza is being used less, excluding live concerts. Having visited the plaza myself it'd be cool of they did more interviews and segments outside, (after COVID and weather permitting of course). This especially to utilize the live audience factor more like GMA did pre-pandemic, and to better engage the crowd that comes in person to visit the show.

ABC News breif (1994). A very 60s style cadence from Jack Smith, just like his dad Howard K. Smith. Love his delivery!

Dave Evans is retiring from Eyewitness News after 22 years. It was announced on the 6pm news.

In terms of reshuffling, I don't mind balanced opinionated analysis in primetime, but Trump and January 6th all day long is excessive. A line up with say, a liberal at 8 like Rachel Maddow or Keith Olberman, a conservative at 9:00, and an independent at 10 would be interesting mix. Since MSNBC aims for a left leaning audience however, commentators in primetime and hard news all day long would be a more likely scenario.
