  1. Just leave it. History proves that CBS will circle back to "This Morning" in 10-12 years. We will be ahead of the curve.
  2. It looks so out of place- almost like it's an afterthought... "Hey Larry, there's no logo bug. Just throw something in, and don't worry about the proportions".
  3. Which is great for Sundays when more people have the time to sit and watch more long-form reporting, but think about the average morning audience- they want news, weather, and want to get on their way. CBS used to at least have that when the Eye Opener was really "your world in 90 Seconds", but that has largely given way to teasers for the days show (example, today Gayle got to light up the new CBS Times Square billboard).
  4. Al made an appearance on Monday's show from home to pay tribute, and TODAY ran another tribute to Willard this morning.
  5. So they're moving Jane into the new studio as well? I get the "marrying" concept they're doing, but I'm still a fan of "If it ain't broken..."
  6. Not directly a broadcaster, but it's big enough in MN that competitors are covering the death of former WCCO Sports Anchor Mark Rosen's wife after a long battle with cancer. (Rosen is now with KFAN Radio) https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2021/08/31/my-heart-is-aching-mark-rosen-announces-wife-denise-passed-peacefully/ https://www.kare11.com/article/news/local/denise-rosen-dies-cancer-battle-wcco-mark-rosen/89-c7de92a3-8149-4f8d-b936-c1d8752f1aa6
  7. I'd argue that Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes are the last two obviously successful franchises in the CBS News Portfolio (up for debate, but CTM, FTN, and EBSEN ratings are my evidence)- Guess Susan's plan is to dilute that across the franchise? Feels like doubling down on stupid.
  8. Oof... Talk about a downgrade on the name. Sure they're still in the ratings basement, lose to local newscasts in many markets, but yeah... the name (and the studio) is the problem. That's it.
  9. Yeah, well, I thought posting a version of the story that didn't have a paywall would be better so people can actually read it.
  10. Former GMA exec being sued for sexual misconduct, toxic work environment... First of many? https://www.foxnews.com/media/abc-news-producer-sues-network-former-top-gma-exec-for-sexual-misconduct-allowing-toxic-work-environment
  11. If it helps, he doesn't have the mustache...
  12. New Anchor at KVLY-Fargo- Tom Tucker is being brought in from KESQ/Palm Springs. Current anchor Mike Morken is reducing his workload to just the 6:00 show. This part of the bio suggests he won't be here long... "He has worked for several ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox television news affiliates in several markets around the country" https://www.valleynewslive.com/2021/08/16/tom-tucker-will-take-valley-news-live-anchor-desk-10pm/
  13. Not sure if we're tracking affiliate rollout of the new ABC logo here or not, but WDAY/Fargo has been using it on air for the last few days now. Everything on air and on social media is the same with the new ABC logo proportion-wise as it was before.
  14. I'm sorry, but the "if a tree falls in the woods" argument came to mind instantly... If there's one thing WBBM has proved it's that who's behind the desk doesn't make a difference at channel 2... The failed reprieve of Bill Kurtis and Walter Jacobson proved that.
  15. Saw the same on Logopedia... For the O&O's as well as some other stations. I'm sure most will do what that poster did anyways, but still...
  16. Definitely plausible! Hasn't 1A gotten an update each of the last three Olympics? It would be nice if they adjusted it to bring back some of the "America's Living Room" feel... The giant video wall just feels so cold and generic.
  17. That sounds better than having everyone back after only one week... My new theory is that Savannah must have had the week leading up to the games plus last week as her two weeks, Hoda sticks around this week and anchors the closing ceremonies with Tirico?
  18. Matt Lauer? Bill O'Reilly?
  19. Facts. But there's third place in a close fight, and then there's the kind of third place that CBS has seemingly become (another example, WBBM-TV)
  20. We could have a lot of fun over at the Speculatron with this... I'd argue the possibility that Bob was doing well and enjoyed Face The Nation too much to switch. Another one to speculate would be could some of the NewsNation talent find a home at CBS if that venture folds (cough, Joe Donlon, cough)
  21. Agreed. It's the same mistake CBS made with Katie Couric on CBSEN... Great journalist and interviewer with a solid resume as a morning host- but an evening anchor she did not make. Norah was a great balance to Gayle on CBSTM with her experience with politics and the happenings in DC, it just didn't translate well to PM. Herein lies the problem... The answer is honestly no one. They need some stability in their game of musical anchors on their shows. But the bench has been weak for decades- evident when there was no clear successor for Dan Rather (Whereas Holt was waiting in the wings on Williams, Muir for Sawyer). If (and emphasize on "IF") CBS wanted to blow up the EN again, they really have no choice but to hire from outside and realistically missed the boat when NBC scooped up Tom Llamas (which, still unnecessary as they had their next-generational anchor in Jeff Glor) Even on Weekends, CBS has an identity issue. Good journalists at the helm with zero name recognition- Adriana Who? Meanwhile across the street, weekend anchors who still have prominence during the week and build a connection with viewers- Diaz-Balart and Snow at NBC, Davis and Johnson at ABC who all make appearances on the network's weekday shows and cable/OTT platforms. But of course, moving EN to Washington and CTM to Times Square will fix everything...
  22. What's the rationale? Please don't say "delta variant"...
  23. Fair point- I had not considered that. Thank you!
  24. Better question would be how does NN's numbers compare to once upon a time when WGNA just simulcasted WGN's Noon and 9pm news?
  25. Andrea Larson is calling it quits as anchor at KVLY (Fargo). Cites COVID-19 for changing her perspective. https://www.valleynewslive.com/2021/06/23/longtime-valley-news-live-anchor-andrea-larson-says-farewell-broadcast-journalism/
