  1. With CBS moving to channel 69, their unrealized attempt at moving to that station in 1994 will finally be realized, bringing those plans "full eyeball" (a reference to the CBS Eye logo)...
  2. The return of WJMN-TV 3 to ABC also reunites the station with that affiliation for the first time since Spring 1992, in which WJMN-TV 3 (and its former parent station WFRV-TV 5 in Green Bay, Wisconsin) were ABC stations who became CBS O&O stations from 1992 to 2007. CBS moved from WLUC-TV 6 in Marquette, Michigan and WBAY-TV 2 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, respectively, as Midwest Radio & TV, Inc., the owner of WCCO-TV 4 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and former parent of WFRV-TV 5/WJMN-TV 3, was purchased by CBS Corporation in 1992. For most of its life until the the launch of their separate studio presence in the early 2010s after Nexstar's purchase, WJMN-TV 3's newscast was basically a semi-satellite of WFRV-TV 5's newscast with an Upper Peninsula-specific schedule with separate syndicated programs, plus Upper Peninsula-specific news, sports and weather update inserts. What the Yoopers got was different from what the Cheeseheads down in N.E. Wisconsin got, aside from local news segments until 2012. WJMN-TV 3's 20-year affiliation with CBS was up, when CBS affiliation moved to WZMQ-TV 19.2. The combined operation under Morgan Murphy Media was successful in bringing more Yooper viewers to the ABC affiliate by combining the assets and personnel of local stations WJMN-TV 3 (who had better independent-style newscasts with a larger studio, but a weak, almost non-existant affiliate) with WBUP 10 (who had a weaker newscast and a strong network affiliate).
  3. An unknown synthesizer/keyboard theme, used by WBAY-TV 2 and WVIA 44: I've separated the voices from the audio with AI, edited it with audacity, put it together with Movie Maker and uploaded it to YouTube.
  4. The one thing I couldn't stand, was how Warner Bros. Discovery has treated their content. They've treated some of their content like it was disposable, which is hurting things o Cartoon Network's end. The last time Cartoon Network had great shows, was from their golden age with the likes of The Powerpuff Girls Classic in 1998 up until recently with Adventure Time, both those cartoons are popular enough that they are getting some new spin-off series as well... I, too, feel sad for the sorry state of broadcast TV, especially since when Scripps bought Ion and eighty-sixed "qubo," Ion's kids/family-oriented subchannel in favor of channels focused on reality TV, Defy TV and TrueReal TV... When Scripps did away with qubo, I was saddened by the fact that I won't be able to watch Inspector Gadget on an over-the-air broadcast, Inspector Gadget was one of my favorite cartoons from my childhood...
  5. MyNetworkTV came into being in 2006 as a way for Fox to create a rival station to The CW, which was formed by combining CBS/Viacom's UPN with TimeWarner's The WB. MyNetworkTV stations were mostly leftover The WB and UPN affiliates from that merger, depending on the market... These days, MyNetworkTV is now a lost cause, not only because it was demoted from "network" status to "program service" status, but also because of the current programming, of which MyNetworkTV is down to the bare minimum of programs... The E.W. Scripps Co. had the right idea, when they reverted both WMYD-TV 20 of Detroit, Michigan and WACY-TV 32 of Green Bay, Wisconsin back to independent status. Doing so offered some more programming freedom for both TV stations...
  6. One thing this channel lacks, is a way for them to insert local weather, but I guess that's what competitor Local Now is for...
  7. WBAY-TV 2 just celebrated their 69-year anniversary on March 17, 2022!
  8. The searchlights are shared between Fox Corp. and Disney at this point. Some Fox affiliates still use them (KSWB, WMSN and WBFF for example).
  9. It is not uncommon for the graphic designer of a TV station's later logo to borrow from that station's past, like with KSTP or WMAR's case...these derivative works could be just an amazing coincidence, such as in KSTP's case...
  10. Seeing that new WAVE logo reminds me of other local TV stations that got on the retro logo bandwagon: * KSTP-TV 5 of Minneapolis, Minnesota switched to a logo resembling their red and white 1982 logo. * WMAR-TV 2 of Baltimore, Maryland is currently using a logo that resembles their original 1975 logo.
  11. In my market, Green Bay, Wisconsin, WCWF 14 will serve as the ATSC 3.0 lighthouse station starting January 25, 2022. 14.1 CW 14 --> WLUK-TV 11 (Fox) 14.2 Comet --> WFRV-TV 5 (CBS) 14.3 Charge! --> WBAY-TV 2 (ABC) 14.4 Stadium --> WACY-TV 32 (MyNetworkTV) 14.5 Dabl --> WACY-TV 32 (MyNetworkTV)
  12. I was watching WBAY-TV 2, when I saw the circle 2 logo with the newest ABC logo placed next to it:
  13. WPBF ABC 25's "PBFNEWS"
  14. Denver Colorado's "Big Switch" of 1995! KCNC-TV 4, formerly affiliated with NBC, becomes owned and operated by CBS. KMGH-TV 7, formerly affiliated with CBS, becomes an ABC affiliate. KUSA 9, formerly affiliated with ABC, becomes an NBC affiliate. KCNC-TV 4 put out a special outlining the details of the affiliation switch (which station gets what network's programming and what programming stays at each station following the switch (mostly syndicated shows), plus some new TV shows these stations will get (syndication or network programming). Here's that video, divided into three parts: Here's KMGH-TV 7's report on the big switch on the following day: ...and KUSA, channel 9:
  15. The ABC logo's design does not stray too far from the 1962 Paul Rand original. The "b" is slightly shorter, the "c" has a smaller gap and all three letters are centered, but the logo is still instantly recognizable. The reason for the centering of the letters, is to add an outline to the circle/dot in some inverted applications, such as an on-screen bug seen during ABC's network programming.
