  1. Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers: Same as before
  2. Carolina Panthers, again: Apparently the down and distance marker from the game at Washington last week was only temporary, as it's back to the previous one. Los Angeles Rams: Same Altitude Sports graphics
  3. Denver Broncos: Same NBC graphics package
  4. UPDATE: Six innings in now, and I'm seeing on the live chat people who are enjoying some of the guests on the lineup and the food being shown (presumably the holdovers who hadn't switched to the main feed and are just watching for the guests). The view count for the Alt-Cast is still less than the view count for the traditional YouTube broadcast (a lot less, in fact), but then again, that's to be expected. Not everyone is going to prefer the Alt-Cast over the traditional broadcast, but had it not had the early negative reception that it got (and also, even on the day before), I wouldn't have mentioned the view count nor the early reception. As the old saying goes, "first impressions count," and more often than not, the first impression that you make will set the tone for the entire broadcast going forward.
  5. And it's been announced that Robert Griffin III will officially be joining ESPN's Monday Night Countdown, replacing Randy Moss in the process. https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/robert-griffin-iii-officially-joins-espns-monday-night-countdown-replacing-randy-moss.html
  6. Watching the alternate broadcast of the MLB Game of the Week on YouTube with celebrity guests in every inning... ...and judging by the live chat and the Twitter replies, we're only one inning in at the time of this post and already, the reception isn't good, as many fans are frustrated that they are forced to listen to the celebrity conversations (which are only barely related to baseball at all) take precedence over the baseball game itself. For fans of either team (Mariners or Angels), doubly so, as they say this is the only way they can watch it thanks to the regional blackout. One person is quoted as saying "Would rather watch commercial breaks than this."
  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Wait for it... wait for it... Same cheap package from two preseasons ago (2019 and 2021), barely distinguishable possession marker and all. In fact, the possession marker is so indistinguishable that it took my camera brightening itself automatically in the last picture for it to even see the marker!
  8. ...and several others who were let go in the past two years and change, even before Dan O'Toole. Why? For the excuse of "budget reasons." Bell, let's talk. Lisa LaFlamme just won the Canadian Screen Award for "Best National News Anchor" four months ago. She helped make CTV National News the unquestionable top dog when it comes to Canadian newscasts, and this is how you reward her after all this time? By firing her for the excuse of "changing viewer habits?"
  9. Or, because they're Fox News Lite, NewsNation may want to check in on Fox Weather. Oh, NewsNation... Why, oh, why did you give up on covering weather? Why, oh, why have you done so this soon?
  10. Buffalo Bills: Same scorebug, old NFL Network graphics being used
  11. Washington Commanders: Same NBC Sports regional package and college scorebug Carolina Panthers: New down and distance marker; otherwise, same package as last year
  12. Also, remember the 2016 CBS scorebug KPIX used? They're using the current CBS Sports graphics package (with the TT Norms font) on top of that, so that is actually two different looks being used at once.
  13. Nice to see that the Cincinnati Bengals are using the exact same scorebug from eight years ago... (And no, the flat look they've been using for the scorebug since last year isn't fooling me. Also, "ARIZ?") And as for the Philadelphia Eagles... nothing more needs to be said, since it's also the same package from earlier for this team.
  14. Some things never change with MASN... (I recorded and uploaded this, by the way.)
  15. And Bally Sports finally adjusted the color of the outs to something believable; red now denotes how many outs there are. Why this change hasn't been made sooner is beyond me. https://twitter.com/Dbacks/status/1557856639322968064
  16. My suggestion exactly! If NewsNation wants to ditch their "balanced, not biased" identity (in case they haven't already done so just months into their existence), they could probably spring for Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose! Bill O'Reilly's in talks with joining, so they might as well reach out to the other two! Justice, fairness, and above all, the #MeToo movement (you thought we forgot about that, huh?) be darned! Good news for NewsNation, though: If they do all of that and overcome the unflattering reputation of the "home for the disgraced," it could move the ratings needle! By about 10,000, that is.
  17. Caution: Viewers of NewsNation could be entering the "no spin zone..." https://www.thedailybeast.com/disgraced-bill-oreilly-eyes-job-at-newsnation-chris-cuomos-new-little-watched-network
  18. ...and it's official: https://slate.com/business/2022/07/oan-verizon-fios-directtv-cable-trump.html Starting on August 1st, the only ways you can watch OAN (not that you'd want to) is through "certain streaming services, its own app, and on certain smaller cable providers such as GCI." And OAN's hosts, in typical OAN fashion, cried foul, saying Verizon is "cancelling" OAN. That's not all: they called on everyone to "join the fight" and get Verizon to reconsider and bring back OAN. I say to this: "Good luck with that."
  19. But on the bright side, regarding Chris Cuomo's announcement of joining NewsNation at the 9pm hour, the channel finally beat an opponent for the first time in what seems to be forever... Newsmax. Who also posted pathetically low ratings in the demo that hour. By a small margin. https://www.mediaite.com/daily-ratings/cable-news-ratings-tuesday-july-26-lawrence-odonnell-leads-msnbc/
  20. The ratings are in for the Chris Cuomo interview turned announcement that he will be joining NewsNation and... https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2022/7/27/the-ratings-for-fredos-return-to-tv I think this may be why NewsNation staff were so frustrated that something as small as Greg Gutfeld and Dean Cain so much as mentioning them got their spirits up?
  21. Just over a week ago, Verizon decided that it will no longer be carrying the One America News Network on its Fios systems. The death blow for OAN on Verizon comes on July 31st (meaning tomorrow). https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2022-07-21/one-america-news-days-may-be-number-after-being-dropped-by-verizon Could OAN be on the verge of collapse? Only time will tell.
  22. Hey guys, I'm new here. I joined because due in part to my father, I had developed a growing fascination for TV news and how it works. I wanted to be bringing my thoughts on TV news to here, so here I am. Now with the introduction finished... I can't believe NewsNation would stoop to that level! Is the morale of the staff that low that they have no choice but to pat themselves on the back in a 30-second promo for Fox News' Greg Gutfeld and actor Dean Cain so much as recognizing NewsNation? It's so hilarious! And to think this was once a superstation of WGN!
