  1. That's a live camera. It's mounted atop the Adventure Aquarium in Camden. I don't mind traditional wall sets if done right and shot with creativity. From what I've seen so far, they've used some really interesting shots to present stories. I think a lot of times designers get caught up in creating depth that they end up with an overly busy set. Iirc the studios at the CTC are around 2500 sq ft a piece (there's three of them) so they aren't the biggest spaces but certainly not the smallest.
  2. Morning Show using a gold motif on the set and in the graphics. They did a walking tour of the set which I've gotten grabs of
  3. From the 4PM's 20 mins of Nonstop News. Segment revealing the new set is at the end of the block.
  4. There's already a thread in the Sets/Studios forum That said, Robert Johnson also debuted today.
  5. It was reported here a couple months ago WCAU's studios at the Comcast Technology Center suffered water damage with the sett having to be demolished. Today at 11AM they debuted a new set in the repaired studio: Watching the replay of the newscast on Peacock, there's a lot of elements that remind me of the NBC Sports RSN set. Like the set it replaces, a seamless 4K screen features as the backdrop behind the news desk. Weather is done in front an almost equally large touch screen. Not sure yet if there is a full weather set. We'll see. Update: so they can change the set colors on the fly. Also there's tons of standup pods around the studio. Finally my question about the weather center was answered. The one from the previous set actually survived and is behind the frosted glass the weather screen is mounted on. You can make it out when they pan in on the screen and you can also catch it in the timelapse.
  6. It's been finally announced the RSNs will be available on Peacock for an add on subscription (rate varies by market). https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/news/sports/stream-sixers-phillies-flyers-peacock/654941/
  7. I actually like CBS' scorebar. My only issue with it is they went away from TT Norms which is odd given how married the rest of the company's presentation is to it. It also seems like they're slowly adding elements to the overall on screen look to match it.
  8. Just look for the sweep on the map when they pull up the live radar.
  9. Interesting. They started the trend in this market going back to 4:30 and then 4. I wonder if the others will follow suit back to 5. I don't see 29 going back but 3 and 6 could definitely go back.
  10. SNY didn't get the new NBC RSN graphics: https://cdn.jwplayer.com/previews/6WIZN2a3 (And yes I know SNY isn't technically an NBC RSN being mostly owned by the Mets but Comcast does own a portion of the network and NBC Sports does manage the production side of the network)
  11. It's gonna be interesting cause it sounds like Inside is gonna stay on TNT outside the ESPN/ABC windows. I'm wondering if they'll be permitted to run on days that are NBC and Amazon windows. What would be cool is if on days where there is no national window they do an MLB Tonight style live look in show and have the panel play off that. They'd probably have to have panelists rotating in and out to sustain 6 hours of content but I think it would work with the amount of personalities that they have there.
  12. They got some international rights but nothing here. Licensing Inside the NBA to ESPN was a savvy move by both sides.
  13. I assume a new set for WCAU since the old one was destroyed?
  14. Yeah I'm not expecting much either.
  15. It is interesting that Amazon would say anything as they're one of the defendants in WBD's suit with the NBA.
  16. SVG has a nice write up on the new graphics and the new tech driving the look as well as sample stills https://www.sportsvideo.org/2024/09/26/nbc-sports-regional-networks-debuts-new-graphics-package-launches-new-cloud-based-graphics-production-ecosystem/ Big takeaway here is this is actually it's own package evolved from the Big Ten package. Also from the SVG article and evidenced from last night's Flyers' game, the score bugs' templates will remain the same with reskins to the new look. Makes sense as the scoring engines were just updated two seasons ago.

  18. New NBC Sports look for hockey And here's a highlight package from the NHL that shows off some elements from the package:
  19. Not much. He was still working off 1996 era masters. If you take a listen to any high quality versions of its contemporaries of that period it sounds pretty much the same. Knowing what we know now, it makes perfect sense that what debuted in '96 was an unbaked recording that had no business being aired. I always thought to myself that it sounded like it was recorded from the nosebleeds of a cheap concert hall with poor acoustics. Now that we finally got what the finished product was supposed to sound like, I really love it. I doubt 6 would ever entertain using it in any capacity though but it's nice to have out there.
  20. NBC Sports Philadelphia has switched to the new NBC Sports look.
  21. It's on the show's Youtube channel
  22. Early returns say that I hate it but I'll wait and see what it looks like on some of their bigger stations. I see someone tried to be cute and replicate the new peacock's design and animation and failed miserably. It really doesn't work when you try to shoehorn in the border that it wasn't designed for. Also it supposed to be misaligned with the 2 like that?
  23. I like it. Kinda reminds me of the 2014-2017 Fox package. I also agree this will look weird with soccer esp with the font. Does not vibe well with it (there's a reason NBC retained the SkySports package for their EPL coverage instead of adopting their own look).
  24. I'm surprised it has taken this long and three different owners/management for this to happen. I know WINS and WCBS have different approaches to how they cover the news and they appeal to different tastes, but they have been sister stations since the Westinghouse/CBS merger with largely the same format in the same market. It's a rarity you see stations in the same radio cluster directly competing in the same format. Usually the lesser station gets its format flipped within months of acquisition or what you see with music stations, they'll take the lesser station and instead of blowing out their format completely, they'll skew their key demo away from the demo of the bigger station so not to step on their toes.
