general thread NBC Sports/NBCSN/Golf Channel/NBC RSNs Thread

SNY didn't get the new NBC RSN graphics: https://cdn.jwplayer.com/previews/6WIZN2a3 (And yes I know SNY isn't technically an NBC RSN being mostly owned by the Mets but Comcast does own a portion of the network and NBC Sports does manage the production side of the network) -
It's gonna be interesting cause it sounds like Inside is gonna stay on TNT outside the ESPN/ABC windows. I'm wondering if they'll be permitted to run on days that are NBC and Amazon windows. What would be cool is if on days where there is no national window they do an MLB Tonight style live look in show and have the panel play off that. They'd probably have to have panelists rotating in and out to sustain 6 hours of content but I think it would work with the amount of personalities that they have there.

They got some international rights but nothing here. Licensing Inside the NBA to ESPN was a savvy move by both sides.

I assume a new set for WCAU since the old one was destroyed?
-
Yeah I'm not expecting much either.

It is interesting that Amazon would say anything as they're one of the defendants in WBD's suit with the NBA.

SVG has a nice write up on the new graphics and the new tech driving the look as well as sample stills https://www.sportsvideo.org/2024/09/26/nbc-sports-regional-networks-debuts-new-graphics-package-launches-new-cloud-based-graphics-production-ecosystem/ Big takeaway here is this is actually it's own package evolved from the Big Ten package. Also from the SVG article and evidenced from last night's Flyers' game, the score bugs' templates will remain the same with reskins to the new look. Makes sense as the scoring engines were just updated two seasons ago. -

New NBC Sports look for hockey And here's a highlight package from the NHL that shows off some elements from the package:

Not much. He was still working off 1996 era masters. If you take a listen to any high quality versions of its contemporaries of that period it sounds pretty much the same. Knowing what we know now, it makes perfect sense that what debuted in '96 was an unbaked recording that had no business being aired. I always thought to myself that it sounded like it was recorded from the nosebleeds of a cheap concert hall with poor acoustics. Now that we finally got what the finished product was supposed to sound like, I really love it. I doubt 6 would ever entertain using it in any capacity though but it's nice to have out there.

It's on the show's Youtube channel

Early returns say that I hate it but I'll wait and see what it looks like on some of their bigger stations. I see someone tried to be cute and replicate the new peacock's design and animation and failed miserably. It really doesn't work when you try to shoehorn in the border that it wasn't designed for. Also it supposed to be misaligned with the 2 like that?
-
I like it. Kinda reminds me of the 2014-2017 Fox package. I also agree this will look weird with soccer esp with the font. Does not vibe well with it (there's a reason NBC retained the SkySports package for their EPL coverage instead of adopting their own look).

Audacy Enters LMA with Good Karma; WCBS 880 to Flip to Sports
ekt8750 replied to Georgie56's topic in Radio Broadcasting
I'm surprised it has taken this long and three different owners/management for this to happen. I know WINS and WCBS have different approaches to how they cover the news and they appeal to different tastes, but they have been sister stations since the Westinghouse/CBS merger with largely the same format in the same market. It's a rarity you see stations in the same radio cluster directly competing in the same format. Usually the lesser station gets its format flipped within months of acquisition or what you see with music stations, they'll take the lesser station and instead of blowing out their format completely, they'll skew their key demo away from the demo of the bigger station so not to step on their toes. -
They did with the old one too. They had no qualms about doing wide shots.
-
Nextar and Tribune before them have always had good Fox looks. This continues the trend.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if KYW is the next O&O to fully shed the channel number from its branding. The Eye-3 logo is really only vestige of it left as they don't mention 3 at all verbally. Everything is "CBS Philadelphia" and "CBS News Philadelphia". They might as well just finish peeling off the band-aid already.

Inside the NBA is dead. Chuck said he's retiring after '25 and Ernie said he's not leaving Turner. If NBC can land Shaq and or Kenny then fine but whatever studio show they develop won't be anything close to Inside. I'm guessing they'll probably have one of their windows named Basketball Night in America.
-
Yeah the Greek alphabet is my odds on favorite. Also they haven't actually used all the letters in the Latin alphabet yet. They've used A-G, then jumped to N, then S and then T was the original Telemundo O&O/Nextar package so there are plenty of letters at their disposal.
-
One should have nothing to do with the other.
-
They could wait till the Winter Games in 2026 (also a Super Bowl year for NBC). There's some prescience for that. Look F was rolled out leading up to the 2012 games which also were a Super Bowl year. I agree Look S still looks very good and on par with the other O&O designs. I just hope they don't plan on waiting till then to update their stations' logos to the new Peacock design.

Pretty sure they started that back when they debuted their current set.

KYW picked up the new morning cut of Dimensional that KPIX and now WCBS are using:
