There was an article in the New York Papers recently about New York News and Weather women 50 or approaching 50 and age discrimination and how only some eg. Kaity Tong, Sue Simmons, Rosanna Scotto are kept around. Could Linda Church be on the slide to the door. Jill Nicolini is a good 20 years younger with a drop dead body and a Playboy pictorial too. Is she be the heir apparent? Linda is getting older and is divorced. Jill is younger and single.

I agree with you Wiz.

But what a sad commentary that is, if that is how station managers choose their on-air talent.

Murrow, Bradley, Grimsby must be rolling in their graves.

Nicollini can't hold a candle to Church's on-camera presence and comparitive knowledge. She is just eye-candy and fantasy material for the young male demo (a la the Playboy spread). And yet, you may be right, just for those reasons. >:o

Wiz--

Couldn't agree with you more. The article you are referring to was published over a year ago. That's why we don't have the likes of Michele Marsh on the air anymore. She was replaed with the younger Lynda Baquero. In 1990, Pat Harper was replaced with the younger Dawn Fratangelo. Unfortunately, this is the case in this business. I'm more than glad that Sue Simmons is still around.

Since it was originally stated that this was linda's decision, has she changed her mind ? She did not look her usual happy, bubbley, self this morning is it her personal life or the move?

Wiz- something's up. One of the people there was overheard saying that Joe was going to be on weekends through the middle of the month now. Maybe they just haven't been able to find a replacement. Couldn't agree with you more; Linda didn't have her stuff. I'll bet it's a combination of all of the above.

Joe Cioffi won't be without a weathercasting job for long.

Cioffi, weekend weatherman for WPIX/ Ch.11, will jump to WNBC/Ch. 4 as a freelancer when his Ch. 11 contract expires later this month.

Cioffi was left without a spot at Ch.11 when morning weathercaster Linda Church told station execs she wanted to leave when her contract was up. In an effort to keep her, Ch. 11 brass dangled Cioffi's job, which, at the time, he was still in.

A Ch.4 spokeswoman confirmed Cioffi will join the station as a backup next month.

Cioffi has been with Ch.11 since 1996.

This was Cioffi's last weekend at CW. He starts freelancing next weekend at NBC4

Morning production crew member says CW11 is in a total state of confusion as to how to fill their weather shifts and Mr G is only making things worse. He is the epitomy of a psychotic male diva.

Should be interesting to see who and what pops up over there.
