PREMiERdrum 0 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Any update on when this will debut? Haven't heard any mentions on-air but I assume they must be nearly finished. 2 week rehearsal period begins today. Construction finished last Tuesday, lighting was mostly completed over the weekend.
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 2 week rehearsal period begins today. Construction finished last Tuesday, lighting was mostly completed over the weekend. Right on time with CBS' Primetime Premiere Week then we'll see how cool this set really is.
PREMiERdrum 0 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Without giving too much away, I can assuredly tell you: It really is that cool. It's so far beyond anything in the market, and arguably unlike anything out there, period.
10Viewer 338 Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 As long as it doesn't look like the bridge on 'Star Trek', it sounds awesome! Hope some new graphics are on the way, too.
PREMiERdrum 0 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 As long as it doesn't look like the bridge on 'Star Trek', it sounds awesome! No worries there. It's very warm, variety of materials is good though not startling. Monitors are used effectively, but they aren't wallpapered all over the thing. Hope some new graphics are on the way, too. Yep. The look is totally refreshed (though the graphics share a theme that should be familiar to keen-eyed BNS viewers; they look nothing like the current news package).

10Viewer 338 Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 LOL, gotta love that 'tomato' logo from the early 90's.
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 one more question, Premierdrum Will it keep the logo that we been seeing of the current "10TV News sans HD logo" That we have seen in promotions recently and in front of the temp set desk? (Yeah they showed the whole Temp set desk during Wall to Wall sports a couple weeks ago. it has the Current logo without the HD) PS: Yea! Big red tomato 10... Memories! And how I became a big news fan. :awesome:

PREMiERdrum 0 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Issues with the new graphics hardware have pushed back the launch to Monday, October 1st.
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Issues with the new graphics hardware have pushed back the launch to Monday, October 1st. This is the first time we got a solid date and still within the timeframe. I'll be watching for sure.
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Issues with the new graphics hardware have pushed back the launch to Monday, October 1st. So what is the latest? Is there any delays or will it launch on Monday?
10Viewer 338 Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 They have a promo that says the set debuts at 5pm. They showed what appeared to be a skyline backdrop with windows and a bunch of flat panel monitors.
PREMiERdrum 0 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 http://www.dispatch....air-update.html A few photos, and lots of good information.
PREMiERdrum 0 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Looks like WCCO. FX Set. There are some sizable differences, but yes, they are both obviously the same FX exercise.
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Checking out the pics..... AWESOME SET! Yeah there are some simarities with WCCO but that WCCO set is not a bad set to taking some hints from! One more question, The "This is Your News" Theme gone from WBNS?
tyrannical bastard 4036 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Very impressive...from the looks of their online stream. They are still using "This is Your News" though.... I figured the graphics would emulate the promos they have been running the past several months...using shades of blue and different thicknesses of HelveticaNeue. It's refreshing, original and different from the cookie-cutter looks that WSYX and WCMH are using (now that the look has been ported to other MG stations in the last few months)
10Viewer 338 Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 The set is very nice and the graphics are refreshing. Only thing I don't like are the lower thirds, the way that indivdual names transition with the story topic.

Only thing I don't like are the lower thirds, the way that indivdual names transition with the story topic. I don't know. For a GO job, it's kind of an interesting look, graphics-wise, without going over the top. http://www.giantocto...om/projects/103
T.L. Hughes 903 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I don't know. For a GO job, it's kind of an interesting look, graphics-wise, without going over the top. http://www.giantocto...om/projects/103 In seeing the GO reel of the new WBNS graphics, the full-screen block transitions remind me of the 2011-12 season variant of the Troika-designed promo graphics used by Canada's Citytv television system. The new headline open graphics used by ABC World News are structured similarly to both Citytv and WBNS' graphics.
10Viewer 338 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 One awkward thing is how at 11pm, when the anchor desk is on the far right side of the studio, the anchors are bantering with the meteorologist all the way on the far left side of the studio.
groupwfan 97 Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Glad they still use "TiYN" for the theme. The thought of Enforcer being 10TV's theme, one question: WHY? 'BNS is not an O&O, But they have an O&Oish set. That's good enough. (Look what KOIN's NOW using. Why should 'BNS be the same way?)
