Mrknowitall526 115
WFMZ posted a picture on Facebook tonight that they have over 100,000 "Likes," which I found sort of unbelievable so I checked it out myself. They have more likes than the CBS 3 page! Not sure what that says, but I think it's a testament to their huge following up here in the Lehigh Valley. BehindNYNews 147
Did this really justify it's own thread? KABC passed 1 million and we didn't have a thread on that, this certainly does not need one either. That, and in reference to WFMZ having a bigger following than KYW, it's not surprising since the CBS-owned stations kinda suck at the social media game. Whether it's lack of promotion or inconsistent branding, they are far from accessible. Jess 1115
Just for comparison, the other stations: WPVI: 439,810 WTXF: 360,308 WCAU: 256,546 WFMZ:100,504 KYW/CBS:98,564 And on Twitter: WPVI: 109,000 WCAU: 97,300 WTXF: 96,500 KYW/CBS: 48,900 Jim Gardner: 37,000 WFMZ: 20,700 --- CBS' entire web strategy is garbage. Minimum social media presence. The most hideous wordpress design I've ever seen, identity confusion (is this 3? 1060? WIP?), and one of the worst iOS apps I have ever seen. They need a redo, and fast. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13598-wfmzs-facebook-page-surpasses-100k-likes/#findComment-104982 Share on other sites
24994J 5577
Fun fact: The top four CBS stations' Facebook page likes combined do not equal/exceed 3 of the 4 competing ABC stations. WCBS/KCBS/WBBM/KYW: 585K KABC: 1.03M WLS: 700K WABC: 651K WPVI: 435K (Plus 57K for the non-news station page) Combined: 2.82M (2.88M) Plus another 175K for the 4 stations' weather pages And their presence is sorely lacking on the network level, as well... NBC News: 4.18M ABC News: 4.09M GMA: 2.95M Today: 2.83M CBS News: 1.99M World News: 1.14M Nightly News: 724K This Morning: 709K Evening News: 262K Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13598-wfmzs-facebook-page-surpasses-100k-likes/#findComment-104983 Share on other sites

adamv2 21
...Whether it's lack of promotion or inconsistent branding, they are far from accessible. FWIW, CBS3 just started their "shore getaway" contest inwhich you can win a weekend stay at a beach house in Ocean city. You have to like their facebook page inorder to enter it.
