The Frog 429
It’s called CBS All Access, and it will offer streams of broadcasts from the 14 stations that the network owns, as well as VOD for “thousands of episodes from the current season, previous seasons and classic shows,” the company says. It’s available today at CBS.com as well as iOS and Android apps for mobile devices. https://deadline.com/2014/10/cbs-launches-subscription-streaming-service-852895/ Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13969-cbs-launches-599-a-month-streaming-service/ Share on other sites
MidwestTV 1232
Trying to eliminate things like Aereo I see. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13969-cbs-launches-599-a-month-streaming-service/#findComment-116863 Share on other sites
effseesee 101
Should be noted that the service will not include access to NFL games on CBS. Rusty Muck 4374
The timing is interesting, considering that HBO is doing a similar thing and announced it days earlier. Curious as to if CBS goes the iHeartRadio route and add other network affiliates to the plate, like WOIO, WWL, KIRO, or new ones like WTTV. Say, a distribution deal with all S!nclair-owned CBS affiliates. And how does Comcast respond? Jess 1115
It's like WATCH ABC, only without the onerous requirement of a cable subscription. Don't think it has anything to do with HBO's move yesterday. And like WATCH ABC, they'll probably add their affiliate partners (probably starting with Gannett, their top group) and then go from there... Rusty Muck 4374
Should be noted that the service will not include access to NFL games on CBS. Not surprising, given that there needs to be some incentive for people to not totally cut the cable cord (plus retransmission consent fees with cable providers basically fuels the heft of PBP contracts like the NFL). Thundershock MN 169
Wow! $6/mo. for live "in-market" streaming of my local CBS station. And, some thought the authentication model of Watch ABC and others is bad. Well, cord cutters/cord nevers are getting there wish. Now, it's time to open up the old wallet. Jess 1115
I vastly prefer paying $6 for mobile streaming of CBS to having to subscribe to cable for mobile streaming of ABC. Neither is perfect - they should be free - but at least CBS makes it more of a direct decision for the subscriber. tvjay 6
Reading a memo it sounds like the local stations will be streamed (once they opt-in) and will share in revenue. I think it is a nice approach. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13969-cbs-launches-599-a-month-streaming-service/#findComment-116888 Share on other sites

rkolsen 1684
WJZ is already hawking All Access. I must say the over the shoulder graphic looked weird - WJZ's standard OTS is the CBS eye but they decided to put two other eyes at an angle on top of the current CBS logo. It looked messed up.
