NWA_TV_guy 157 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Still "Your Weather Authority" on air as of tonight. Correct - they're using it in on-air promos, but not on the actual newscasts...yet.
memnews1 25 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 WMC will reportedly be switching to the new look in a couple of weeks. This news comes as they reveal their new "StormTracker5" storm chasing vehicle which displays the "First Alert Weather" branding that Raycom has been switching to:
NWA_TV_guy 157 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 WDAM updated their logo on their website, in addition to their weather app a few weeks ago. I have not noticed an app update for the news app. This may be another step closer to a complete graphics change over...soon? The only station in the region that has not switched to any form of the new graphics would be WLOX.
TheRomeoShow 1 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 WSFA is using the new graphics for weather ONLY...for now. From what I saw last week, KPLC is only using the new graphics just for weather. They're still using the 2011 Raycom graphics for everything else.
montydavis 7 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Any word on WCSC's debut of the graphics package?
LexTVandRadio 418 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Any word on WCSC's debut of the graphics package? They could use a new logo.
NWA_TV_guy 157 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 They could use a new logo. I'd keep my eye out for Live 5 News on Monday. According to their website, they will debut a 7:30 p.m. newscast and it wouldn't surprise me if they debut the new graphics then or sometime Monday.
memnews 36 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 WMC will reportedly be switching to the new look in a couple of weeks. This news comes as they reveal their new "StormTracker5" storm chasing vehicle which displays the "First Alert Weather" branding that Raycom has been switching to: WMC has indeed switched to the new graphics as of tonight, but only for weather right now. It appears StormTrack Doppler 5 is gone in favor of First Alert Vipir 5, although they've used "Doppler" and "Vipir" interchangeably in the past so the doppler title may see a return.
Daybreak 294 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 WMBF News debut the full graphic package today. It seems they are also updating duratrans in the studio
LOWERCASE GUY 287 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Looks like WFIE is using the new graphics now! Does this make all the Raycom stations with the new look??
TennTV1983 811 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Looks like WFIE is using the new graphics now! Does this make all the Raycom stations with the new look?? No. You still have a few with either the previous look or the one before that still out there.
NWA_TV_guy 157 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 WLOX is still using the 2010 look. However, it looks like KSLA has switched completely to the new graphics.
LOWERCASE GUY 287 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I completely forgot the Drewry Stations also. Though, that one may be a while.
TennTV1983 811 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Is WIS ever switching? I'd be surprised if that happens as they seem to be the oddball of the group, graphics-wise.
LOWERCASE GUY 287 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 WIS will be the station to use the Purple look that Raycom offers in their graphics package IF they do switch.
TheRolyPoly 2658 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Plus, Raycom's WFLX still uses the 2010 look, thanks to the LMA with WPTV.
promoguy98 254 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Plus, Raycom's WFLX still uses the 2010 look, thanks to the LMA with WPTV. IMO, that Raycom 2010 (Media General Turret/Film reel) knockoff package is hideous, not that the Media General package was any better. I've never quite understood Raycom's fetish for lets make everything look like a late 90's Windows screensaver. Even weirder is how much of the text and ping-ponging logos never aligned correctly on the 3D perspective axis. Sorry for the mini-rant.... I'm probably the only person who thinks that the 2010 Raycom look is pure Windows screensaver garbage

Rusty Muck 4429 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 That neon sign look for "WBRC" is tacky and they would have been better branding as "FOX 6 News" They should keep that look on their sign on top of Red Mountain in Birmingham, not on air. Am I the only one who likes the new logo for WBRC? It's simple, distinctive, reflects the station's heritage and is as non-Fox as you can get this side of KDVR and the classic KTVU. Plus, in comparison to "Cleveland 19" and some S!nclair logo redesigns, this is an absolute winner.

Plus, in comparison to "Cleveland 19" and some S!nclair logo redesigns, this is an absolute winner. I'll pass. They should've just went to a horizontal logo while still using the searchlights around the "6". Additionally, I'm originally from Birmingham and nobody there or Central Alabama remembers or care about the "WBRC" call letters. It's like Raycom is trying to force the calls onto the viewers but most know them as "FOX6". The station's uniqueness is with its own way of looking how it chooses to look while imitating some of the better elements of the O&O package but its own unique look to its logo.
NWA_TV_guy 157 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 WLOX is now using the new graphics for weather as of today. So far they're using the orange theme and their weather branding has switched to "First Alert".
