CircleSeven 1960 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 ESPN just announced that longtime anchor Stuart Scott passed away this morning, after a long battle with cancer. May he rest in peace.
cbs2newengland 72 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 ESPN won't be the same without him. He was one of the few people I could tolerate on the network. He was true to himself and wasn't a fake fanboy or whathaveyou. Didn't he do MNF too?
24994J 5619 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Didn't he do MNF too? Yep. I can't recall her name, but she would give a shout-out to Stuart every week and would submit HIS game pick.
mike91 67 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Not only one of the best in the biz, but an amazing inspiration to the world. I greatly admire the passion to which he fought cancer. Will sorely be missed. http://youtu.be/Yl_0ieqSi7Q
NewsMaster 226 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Incredibly sad news to wake up to. RIP Stu. You will be missed.
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Yep. I can't recall her name, but she would give a shout-out to Stuart every week and would submit HIS game pick. Suzy Kolbert. But as I said in the shoutbox, watching ESPN SportsCenter you could tell this is hard for them to do and to even report, but they are doing with grace. No bottomline and with little or graphics. The feeling just says it all, He will be missed deeply there.
abric 181 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Stuart Scott was and always will be as cool as the other side of the pillow. On this first Sunday of the year, let us not only remember him but remember the love he brought to being a sportscaster, a mentor, a father and a friend. RIP Stuart. Gone too soon.
nickp 339 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I will always remember the personality of Stuart Scott. Been one of the most iconic TV figures for me since I was a kid
24994J 5619 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Not to detract from the greater loss of Mr. Scott, but 'Sports Illustrated' got a peek into the process of how ESPN put together Stu's on-air obituary, weeks and months in advance. It's impressive and commendable the efforts put forth by the ESPN crew ensuring that no one outside of a small group knew, including Scott, himself. http://www.si.com/more-sports/2015/01/04/stuart-scott-espn-sportscenter-media-circus

bhratbrat 437 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 On Keith Olbermann's ESPN2 show, he replayed the first segment that Stuart Scott and him were together. (Also Suzy Kolber back in 93 and Mitch Albom) http://deadspin.com/here-is-stuart-scotts-first-espn2-sportscast-from-octo-1677618682
