Hexagonal10 84 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Yesterday they had "screwed up" lower thirds, now it's more partially transparent and the bug is like WXIA, The LIVE has been moved to the right and has been brighter and enlarged.
Daybreak 289 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 All of the Gannett graphics are being updated. The time and temperature moved from I guess on top of the logo box to the side.

I just hate the new big, bright LIVE. It's like WIVB, But I do love the new bug. The L3 seems a little... small
mardek1995 200 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 And all the Lone Star stations will have the updated graphics within a few months.
Hexagonal10 84 Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 And all the Lone Star stations will have the updated graphics within a few months. Graphics last usually 3 years. WIVB killed most of their 2012 graphics anyway.
mardek1995 200 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Graphics last usually 3 years. WIVB killed most of their 2012 graphics anyway. But news music can last longer, meaning the "This is Home" music may outlive the graphics, even if they get updated (like "This is Your News" was).
Hexagonal10 84 Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 But news themes can last longer, meaning the "This is Home" theme may outlive the graphics, even if the theme gets updated. We found that with WKBW and MCTYW. And we'll probably see 360 on WIVB's next graphics. If they have any... It just happened today. I watched it at 6 PM. Yesterday was normal. With the smaller LIVE and bigger L3. Turns out they didn't move the LIVE. Whoops.

I was talking about the "This is Home" music by Gari, which like I said, could outlive the graphics that the Gannett stations have now.

c.alexbrown 8 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 The graphics are suitable too. Everything's now clean. Except the Gannett sets. The set that looks the best with the Garnett graphics package is WCNC here in Charlotte.... It was a belo when they redid it too!
ABC 7 Denver 1729 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I kind of knew this was all going to happen but was asked to keep quiet. They are doing minor updates. There are more to come, just be aware.
Hexagonal10 84 Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 Rogers cut WGRZ off my package and many others. So if you can post any Gannett graphic package updates, that'd be great. I'll be looking for OTA antennas.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Add KSDK and KARE to the list of stations with the updated package.
nbc11newsclips 0 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 In my state, KXTV in Sacramento got updated package.
Hexagonal10 84 Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 And Scripps, WIVB are probably getting new packages...
mardek1995 200 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Add KSDK and KARE to the list of stations with the updated package. And add KVUE, WFAA, KHOU, KENS, and really all the other Gannett stations except the Lone Star stations and WUSA.
Samantha 2902 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 KPNX has it as of tonight. They did not have it on Thursday.
mardek1995 200 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 KPNX has it as of tonight. They did not have it on Thursday. W*USA still doesn't have the updated graphics.
Daybreak 289 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 And add KVUE, WFAA, KHOU, KENS, and really all the other Gannett stations except the Lone Star stations and WUSA. I still think it kinda sucks that all of the former Belo stations had to get Gannett graphic package because WFAA previous package was really good in my opinion.
sanewsguy 514 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I can confirm KENS does have it. I actually really really like it. It's a lot cleaner and more appealing than what they used to have. It's not as bulky and they now take the L3 off if they are not using it for a story. The only complaint of course is that it is still designed for widescreen but other than that it is a step in the right direction.

Why is that a problem? 4:3 TVs have been dinosaurs for almost a decade. All graphics packages should really be primarily designed for 16:9 these days...squeezing things into the center 4:3 safe area is such a waste of space.

It's a problem when your cable company letterboxes the SD feed. I would rather see cut off graphics filling up the whole screen than the full picture taking up 70% of the screen then the other 30% going to waste with black bars on the top and bottom. However I guess most people don't so they letterbox it so you can see the text. And yes I have a 16:9 set but tune to the SD channel out of habit.
Hexagonal10 84 Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 I was watching WGRZ on 4:3 at six... And everything fit just fine.
Hexagonal10 84 Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 So, KHOU now has talent rejoins? I'm dying to see them. And if they're coming to more Gannett stations?
