rkolsen 1684
I'm surprised this hasn't posted this before hand but it seems to be that Raymie and I are the only ones who follow Spanish language media. Well I should clarify, he's a connoisseur and I'm extremely casual. Anyway on Friday 27 of March both stations KUVN in Dallas and KXLN in Houston aired their final edition of Primera Edición in both cities that aired from 4-6AM. Starting next week on 4 April they will air a regional newscast entitled Noticias Texas Primera Edición which will air in the same time period in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin. The newscast will retain reporters in all four cities. The regional newscasts will be anchored by KUVN's morning anchor team, Rodolfo Sánchez and Karina Yapor, who will be relocating to Houston. KXLN's anchor team will be reassigned with Arnaldo Rojas heading up the investigative unit and Lizzet Lopez will become an evening general assignment reporter. Currently this week both KUVN and KXLN are filling the time period with reruns of the previous nights late newscasts and the national Univision feed. Additionally the show, Vive la Mañana, which aired on the UniMás affiliate in both cities from 6-7AM was cancelled. Source: MediaMoves --- This is definitely an interesting move considering Telemundo produced newscasts for San Jose, Phoenix, Denver, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Las Vegas from Dallas between 2006 - 2013. I think the only difference between this and Telemundo's program is that this is a much smaller geographic area in the same state. Also this definitely seems like Univision is doing their own version of NBC 2.0 cuts in hopes for a possible sale or IPO. Samantha 2895
The net gain is for viewers in San Antonio and Austin who now get something regional in the morning. But it's continually amazing how Univisión keeps trimming (last year, it was WLII) while Telemundo keeps expanding and investing in news. One approach will pay off a lot better. Amra 171
Not surprised one bit by Univision. The rumours are flying that they are also going to can Sabado Gigante. More cuts and cuts. Alright, now THAT doesn't make sense. Unless the aging Don Mario simply commands a salary way too big. It's quite clear they're in that phase where they're getting all dolled up for a sale or IPO. If they can Sabado Gigante, then just have Univision cease to exist. There will be no way Univision would survive if they can that show. Amra 171
He commands $12 million/year. And it's reported by several news outlets in Latin America. Examples pasted below: http://www.metro.pr/entretener/con-un-pie-fuera-de-univision-don-francisco/pGXoda!cSDA4tZgp9PI/ http://www.tiempo.hn/entretenimiento/item/25623-otro-mas-don-francisco-podria-quedar-fuera-de-univision http://www.publimetro.com.mx/entretenimiento/don-francisco-tiene-un-pie-fuera-de-univision/XeSoda!8kb26nIJeo8TegPaYtnNiQ/ http://megatvorlando.com/con-un-pie-fuera-de-univision-don-francisco/ Mind you, it is the same article on all four links. Since 2012, the rumours are flying that Don Francisco is on his way out, but with all the stupid moves Univisión has been doing lately, I wouldn't be surprised. It would be sad to see another Chiquinquirá led programme that replaces him.
