Here we go again... terrorists have struck Paris.

CBC in Canada has been on this since the news broke. They interrupted programming sometime before 8 pm ET to carry a speech from the Prime Minister. The National carried on the coverage at 9 pm and went on hourly repeat the entire night, essentially discarding the entire Friday night / early Saturday morning schedule for most if not all CBC affiliates. Late night local news was also dumped in favor for the repeat.

CTV, Global and Citytv on the other hand? Besides the flagship news programs, don't even bother asking what they were doing.

What is it with the Canadian nets never airing special reports? CBC is a little better at this, but the others rarely, rarely - if ever, break in to regular scheduled programming no matter what is happening in the world.

They didn't waste their money on American simsubs for nothing.

Slight exception for Global and Citytv though. Both are too dependent on American sources (NBC and CNN, respectively) and quite frankly they don't have enough manpower to break into programming anymore, especially with the recent cuts (Bell laid off 300+ staff this week). Break ins on said networks are usually planned ahead or interferes directly with the American program lineup on which there is no way to provide a simsub, so a locally produced break in is the only logical way.

But I digress.

Saw on WISN right before GMA that the mastermind of the Paris attacks is dead. Should we be shocked that no special reports are happening?

I was watching the ABC News website, and for a while, they had cued up an additional video stream labeled "Coming Up: Special Report" but nothing ever came on that, and it got pulled back down.
