Fox News Channel's Megyn Kelly will be hosting a special during May sweeps that will air on Fox broadcast, Monday May 23rd from 8-9pm Eastern time. The special is jointly produced by FNC and veteran TV producer Bill Geddie. Bill Geddie will serve as the Executive Producer for the special.

The special will feature a variety of celebrity interviews from the political world, entertainment world, and worlds of other human interest. The special will also address the year she's had covering the 2016 election.

Could this open the door to more FNC-produced programming on Fox?

Reminds me a bit of some years back when Shep did a series of primetime news specials on FOX. That was when the hot rumor was that FNC wanted to attempt a national news broadcast on the network. This feels more like trying to capitalize on Megyn in the news lately.

This is obviously Fox News trying to keep Megyn Kelly in the fold. She would have every reason in the world to jump ship, all of which are tied to a Mr. Drumpf and his minions constantly attacking her, and Mr. Ailes outright failing at defending her.

As for more Fox News programming on Fox proper, there's no way in the world that's going to happen. Affiliates would rebel (especially those who actively seek to distance themselves from Fox News) and it would cannibalize the 55-dead demo that tunes into O'Reilly every night.

But where the hell would she even jump ship to? Al Jazeera America? Russia Today? Fox News is pretty much the best and only place for her.

OMG...

You might be right.

She actually may have stereotyped herself.

Q: Can the shark jump itself ?

And the only affiliates that wouldn't rebel would be the Fox O&Os and all the Fox affiliates owned by Sinclair and maybe Nexstar, but most other Fox affiliates would rebel and threaten to disaffiliate from Fox and switch to another affiliation

Where are you pulling these scenarios from? seriously...Wayy over the top.

It's not always about the FOX (Fox News Channel's) conservative slant. Adding any [new] programming to the mothership will require affiliates to clear that hour/half hour from their schedule. Which in many cases means that the affiliates are losing money via lost ads and other things. Unless the network is willing to cover those monetary losses, I doubt the FOX affiliates will be reluctant to part with that half hour/hour from their schedule.

You might be forgetting that CNN has an opening at 9pm weeknights...

That would be like downgrading from a Ferrari to a Crown Victoria. FOX and MSNBC trounce CNN.

They would have to match her salary at FOX and give her more perks, much like they did for Alisyn Camerota .

Depends. CNN has actually had a larger ratings boost than Fox and MSNBC have during this election cycle, and that's mainly without live programming during the 9pm hour. (I would be safe to say that this is overall viewing, not specific timeslots... that's gotta be a whole other ballgame clearly in Fox's favor.)

I am interested to see if this is a fluke, or hints of a trend. The ideological schism in Fox's target audience can't really be helping them that much, especially if one side is vowing to 'boycott' the network because they are too favorable/critical of a certain used car salesman disguised as a presidential candidate.

And as you already know she makes way more than Camerota ever did.

Do you think CNN will really come up with that dough? It will be a heck of a lot more than a match in salary, corner office and new coffee pot.

It would be the "Megan Kelly CNN with Megan Kelly Managing Editor, Senior VP of news for the next 20 years no questions asked, no cuts...I run the entire operation, Zuker is my bitch CNN."

I don't think CNN could handle her.

Beyond that... I will not even dare to speculate on this one.
