KTBC/Austin getting new set

Austin's Fox O&O is getting a new set. They moved to a temporary set this week. The timing -- right after WFLD unveiled their new set -- makes me think there's a good chance it's from the same company.

Interesting fact about the temporary set: It's located in LBJ's former penthouse apartment at the top of the KTBC building in downtown Austin. LBJ's family owned the station for many years while it was a CBS affiliate. They also owned several Austin radio stations -- such as KLBJ-FM -- that are now owned by Emmis.

Boy, every other FOX O&O is getting a new set, except for WNYW. Either way, hopefully they won't go cheap on Austin's new set.

WJW's O&O set may outlive them all. I highly doubt Sinclair would want to make an investment like a new set for them.

Ya never know. We never thought WGN would get a new set anytime soon, and look what happened! Cross your fingers that they get a new set before the thing falls apart.

Edit: Then again I live in the market where KUSI still has a set that is over 20 years old. The thing will probably outlive John Coleman.

At least it's still aging okay. KRON was on the verge of Duct Tape. If it wasn't for them being sold and getting a new set, all the mini monitors on the set would be snow and static.

Makes me wonder if KTVU will be part of the new set list. This will make KTVU and KPIX having the oldest sets in the market.
