I've noticed the colors are a bit off on the vertical monitor WCBS uses for the traffic reports.

Yeah. They can change it to what ever they please. Including that hideous WLNY logo.

What's weird is that for a time when they introduced the first blue and white look (after the giant glass eye), they were using two variants on the WLNY logo- most of the time it'd be the ugly one, but the intro featured a variant with a font closer to that of KCAL and hence not as ugly.

It's the angle the monitor is being shot at.

 

It's probably a consumer-grade TV. Consumer-grade televisions aren't designed to be viewed from the top or bottom which is how we're technically looking at it here. You can pay more to buy a professional-grade display that's meant to be rotated 90° but those are much more expensive.
