Wisco TV Watcher 11 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Video: http://www.wearegreenbay.com/weather/tuesday-video-forecast-1032017/824249154 These actually look pretty spiffy. I wouldn't mind if WFRV moved to something like this for their general newscast graphics (the current ones are about five or six years old, so they're due for a change).
TennTV1983 806 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Those weather graphics have shades of the yet-to-be-debuted Nexstar package for its CBS stations, so a full-blown update isn't too far off from happening in the future.
jrh1985 57 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 It's beautiful!!!!!!! Just think what the regular news package would look like! Anyone know how long WFRV has had the current package?

That package is so well done (from Weeters's initial post) it makes WFRV kinda/sorta look like an O&O again.

It dates back to June 2011; it was authorized by Liberty before the Nexstar purchase, so not bad for a six year package with no corporate mandate.

From what I can recall, Nexstar officially took over the station a week or so after the HD switch. The graphics do date back to the HD switch, and, aside from going to all-caps type, have not been modified very much. Personally, I don't think they've needed any modification; heck, WFRV may (still) have the best graphics in the market. (of course, they're competing with the Sinclair package, the Scripps package, and the pre-Nexstar Media General package)
Samantha 2898 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 That Storm Team 5 logo is still pretty ugly, but the rest is rather nice.
MidwestTV 1240 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Yeah, WHAT is that logo and WHAT is that 5? Otherwise it looks good. Another WSI station. Is that high temps graphics supposed to be telling us the time the high temp was? That's odd. Not sure why viewers would want to know that.

Conrad 113 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Did not expect to see WFRV heavily promoting that they are WeatheRate certified.
GoldenShine9 1514 Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 It seems the longer-running Nexstar stations are becoming more Media General-ish in terms of on-air presentation...

jrh1985 57 Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Local 5 now has the full new graphics package! IDK when that started, I don't think I missed it on here. I just got up to the Local 5 area today.

That stylized “5” dates back to when WFRV/WJMN was still a CBS O&O.

nathannah 2496 Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 That stylized “5” dates back to when WFRV/WJMN was still a CBS O&O. I was surprised they didn't adopt a Helvetica 5, but with all of the confusion them and WDJT in Milwaukee have (WDJT is almost universally cable 5 in their market area and that's one of the reasons they stick to branding with '58' so WFRV doesn't get annoyed), it was best for CBS to diverge from their common logo template at the time. Though I admit, I miss the "Bob Newhart Show font" 5 they had for 25 years under Liberty ownership; I would have loved for them to keep it to this day.
