TheRolyPoly 2449
My thoughts exactly. I said when the NBC aff. fiasco took place that WBZ would be the big winner other than WCVB and look what has happened... WBZ is now second. WHDH has fallen to third again because without network programs, local news is the only thing that's keeping them alive but even that's suffering. This market has become WCVB vs. WBZ all over again. Oh the '80s and '90s of Boston Television... Liz and Jack vs. Nat and Chet. It's like 89.7 WGBH vs. 90.9 WBUR in today's age. Or David and Liz vs. Ed and Maria. newsman123 114
More on Atlanta sweeps and WGCL growth. CBS 46 News finished ahead of WXIA in 6 different news time periods, including 11pm and all morning newscasts. CBS46 News at 4:30am finished second in the time period, ahead of both WXIA and WAGA. CBS46 News at 9 is already the #2 local newscast in Prime Time. CBS46 News is experiencing double and triple digit growth in multiple news time periods CBS46 News beat WXIA and WAGA at 6pm last night FYI. TSSZNews 1051
Cox is killing WFXT. You misspelled "FOX." I actually think they're doing OK in the money demo in the AM and at night. That number doesn't include 10PM or 7-9AM, mind you. They're probably fine. CBS46 News is experiencing double and triple digit growth in multiple news time periods CBS46 News beat WXIA and WAGA at 6pm last night FYI. And I would guess WAGA is still a cozy #2 in most slots, but remains the prime time news champ. But scheduling Y&R back to 12:30, reuniting Amanda Davis and Guivir Dhindsa in the mornings, the 9:00 news on WPCH, and promoting Paul Ossmann to chief meteorologist have been working wonders for WGCL after all after many years in fourth place, and I’m glad that many Atlantans are making the switch. Now bring on the usual “We’re still #1...regardless of other claims!!” bullshit from WSB! TheRolyPoly 2449
You brought up amazing points. All of this really good to point. Paul deserves that Chief job, Amanda and Guivir have become recognizable, the 9:00 pm news really does help for WGCL as terms of its image and not doing social media-esque news like WXIA and The Morning Rush and the so ill-fated The Late Feed has really helped WGCL. Prediction: By the end of this year, they become third in the ratings overall and by next year, beats WXIA in all timeslots. Prediction: Fire Ben Swann and keep Tracye Hutchins. Sharon Reed is a toss up for me. Fred Kalil is a legend there so obviously, he stays there. There you go. And then maybe, just maybe, it will beat WAGA and become second in some timeslots. I didn't mean to go off-topic with this. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16083-november-sweeps-results/page/2/#findComment-190372 Share on other sites
