AKA 38 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 The entire studio was renovated. It’s their first new set since 2007.
Weeters 1981 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Look closely, it's actually a refresh. It looks like they can move the desk around, which is neat. The refresh bit kinda makes it look like a discount version of the TEGNA set, though...
rkolsen 1697 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Look closely, it's actually a refresh. It looks like they can move the desk around, which is neat. The refresh bit kinda makes it look like a discount version of the TEGNA set, though... I can’t really tell. Edit. I see it now. Looks like the “walls” were kept and redone. But is it just me or are there two cameras mounted on this pedestal? You see the regular camera but mounted on its side is a side prompter, talent monitor and clock. If that’s a second camera I don’t know whether they’re ingenious or just plain cheap. Edit. It looks like it’s just a side mounted prompter and confidence monitor. Still it’s something I have never seen.
C Block 1574 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Looks a little bit like they got the KGW treatment.
AKA 38 Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 It’s certainly better looking than the other two stations in the market. I don’t think KXLY has updated theirs in almost 20 years.
MidwestTV 1270 Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Is that seriously just a white wall with some wood vinyl on it? How uninspired as a designer do you have to be to put that there. Unless they mean to use it as a generic stand up performance/demonstration area, that's a ton of wasted space that could have easily been filled with monitors or other physical elements. It looks nice and clean, but seems dreadfully uninspired. So much more could have been done with the faux window elements. Also, why are those vertical monitor bezels so thick? The K in KREM is almost completely obscured.
rkolsen 1697 Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 So are the refrigerators on TV sets plugged in? I realize they’re for show but sometimes used.
