panewswatcher69 29 Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 (edited) After a long 10 years (top picture is previous news set), is Nexstar's Altoona, PA station getting a new news set finally? Is the news set with the blue background pictured a temporary set? The set with the blue background pictured started being used on Friday, September 1st, 2023. Edited September 11, 2023 by panewswatcher69 Added previous news set 1

Yes the blue background is what they typically use at their stations for the temporary set. 1

MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 947 Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 I also see they switched from the "CBS" Nexstar graphics to the KOIN graphics 1
tyrannical bastard 4018 Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 They should have gotten a new logo while they were at it. But this is typical Nexstar.... 2

This is what you would expect for a market of this size. This isn't what you'd expect for Denver... Yet that is exactly what we got and it looks like crap. 1
tyrannical bastard 4018 Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 I cringe to think what's next for some of the former Tribune stations out there that got some "last minute" changes before Nexstar took over. Hopefully for stations like WGN and WJW, these changes are years away...but others like KWGN/KDVR and WTTV/WXIN were converted pretty quickly from some of their Tribune looks/packages... 1
panewswatcher69 29 Posted October 21, 2023 Author Posted October 21, 2023 Now, after 15 years, time for Sinclair's WJAC Johnstown new news set. 1

It’s one thing if they were replacing a 10-20 year old set, but to throw away a perfectly functional set after only 3 years? What a waste. KDVR didn’t need to replace their set; they needed to replace the (metaphorical) revolving door of talent. 1 1

KDVR didn’t need to replace their set; they needed to replace the (metaphorical) revolving door of talent. And even their previous set was only about 6 years old. They keep replacing sets like that is going to improve ratings. Honestly, Byron Grandy needs to be fired. He and Joan Barrett haven't a clue what they are doing. 1
