The chat show will end with its 15th season,

and the final episode will air on December.

The Gates is a go. The newest soap has been officially ordered by CBS, and will premiere in January.

This may be an interesting business story to see how it plays out. The Talk was kind of little more than wallpaper by the time the axe fell. But can a ground-up drama be enough of a profit source for an organization that isn't exactly rolling in dough? Does having those production partners change the financial calculus? How long or short of a leash does the show get to get a foothold?

I think as long as it makes money CBS will be happy.

The Gates was developed from the joint venture between CBS Studios and the NAACP. The series will be produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP venture in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble.

 Sounds like they may have a solid financial footing.  The stars will likely not be commanding the same amount of money as “The Talk”. Nor the more establish soaps.
