wabceyewitness 825
Current WPVI GM Rebecca Campbell to replace Davis. See post below. J. Dave Davis, president/GM of WABC has been named Executive Vice President -- the #2 person in charge -- of ABC News. He will oversee all ABC News programs, including "Good Morning America," "World News with Charles Gibson," "Nightline," "20/20," "Primetime," and "This Week". WABC made a lot of progress under his leadership. Wonder who will replace him. Amra 171
I hope they give the GM/President title to somebody from WABC, like the Station Manager. NYNW 0
I hope also hope they promote within. It's a great station, let's hope it stays that way. Vlad 325
I don't think WABC made too much progress with him. Dave Davis came from WPVI-TV and things stayed pretty much consistent. There weren't any major overhauls he seems to go for the "If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It" approach, he did the same with WABC so perhaps the same may happen with ABC. Vlad 325
Well, I hope she bring forth major changes to the station and push the station to new heights, because right now although the station is Number 1 in the New York Area, its looks as many of us here are aware of are not that great, the station needs an overall facelift. The talents are fine, everyone is well placed, its the overall presentation and look that the station is presenting to viewers that draw it down. The overall quality of the newscasts have truly gone downhill. The station truly doesn't feel like a "flagship" station. And she needs to work on making WABC feel like "a flagship" station. Right now WLS in Chicago has that title. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2116-wabc-gets-new-general-manager/#findComment-22053 Share on other sites
justin2kx 240
Vlad, in what way has the quality truly gone downhill for WABC that it doesn't make a "flagship" station and what makes WLS a great station? Jess 1115
When Campbell was in charge at WPVI, that was when the station dramatically improved its on-air look and presentation. No evidence on hand that I know of, but it's a logical leap.
