it looks like KSNV recently updated their studio with a new anchor desk and upgraded LED panels.  The refresh debuted during yesterday’s newscasts.

If I find one or if I can produce a decent screencap, I’ll post it.  Their website and social media have been quiet about the updates.

Is it me or do Sinclair sets underwhelm - look kind of on the cheap.

That's because Sinclair - much like Nexstar for the most part outside of their larger markets - do a lot of their set builds in-house now as opposed to having a third-party vendor do it for them. And it's been the case since Park Place - the last company they worked with - went belly up a few years ago.

At one point, when they were upgrading their stations' news operations to HD, they opted to have Devlin do their sets.

Some of their in-house builds aren't as bad compared to others, but there have been worse setups. Albritton, for example, was notorious for going cheap when they upgraded their stations to HD.

Why are outrageously large anchor desks becoming a thing again??

It could be an artifact of the camera being zoomed all the way out. I've noticed some stations who do it end up having a fish eye and the whole studio appears to bend.

The lighting here is pretty poor as well, especially the top. While that's not something that's seen often, if you are going to pull the camera shot super wide then the top of the set needs to be lit properly.

What an awful update to a pretty decent DEVLIN set. That desk is terrible - Typical Sinclair to save $$ by online doing only a small strip of plexiglass at the front of the desk.  Just bad overall.
