As you may have seen for the past week or so this promo has been circulating on KDKA that BIG EWS is coming TODAY at 4 pm. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/196Vw2qatr/

Well, Barry Pintar from the KDKA TV News at Noon broke the news that today's news at noon was going to be the last newscast in the main studio for a couple of weeks due to some MAJOR UPGRADES. From what I've heard, KDKA will be GUTTING the studio and become the next AR/VR CBS O&O set.

Sorry, I wasn't able to get the announcement at noon, but I will try and get the announcement at 4pm today.

It has aged well for a set, over 11 years. It will be interesting seeing one of the AR/VR sets for KDKA, if that holds true. In the report at 4pm, Barry Pintar did show off that one of the video walls was removed as they prepare to renovate Studio A.

It saddens me that CBS is increasingly expanding this idea of VR studios. The standard implemented in Los Angeles, Denver, and Chicago would be great for their O&Os.

I'm thinking in the long rimun THIS is cheaper for the company? So, that every 4 or how many years they don't have to gut out their studios for a fresh look? They can make the changes when they want however they want on a computer and boom!

Are they really going to run their newscasts off of one camera at the temporary anchor desk?
