KGW Anchor Meltdown

There is nothing you can do about something like that, it just happens. But you will get the jackasses who will blast you for being "unprofessional" (human) That is one of the things I hate about the news business, no matter what you do, it is the wrong thing in someone's eyes.

What sickens me is that they even interviewed the man on camera about seeing his wife die. How sickening.

Yet, some of you on this board probably would not find anything wrong with that.

I could care less if the anchor cries.

You have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

As someone who has interviewed people who have just experienced tragedy, many of them DO want to talk, it is therapeutic for them. Most people want someone to talk to instead of bottling up their grief. If they don't want to do an interview even the most aggressive reporters, and I have been called an aggressive reporter, will not press the person at all. If someone tells me "no" I thank them and apologize for their loss and for disturbing them.

Do you think all reporters are heartless? Making the call to request that kind of interview is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. If it doesn't tear you apart inside, there is something wrong with you.
