News4LA 0
Considering NBC is leaving Burbank to move to Universal City in 2011 & NBC isn't rolling with cash these days, I'm still surprised they bothered to do a new set. But this new set is nice. It's not a OhMyGod type set but very nice. The big plasma on the desk looks good and the way they use it. The weather center is 100% better than the old one. Still like to know where was Fred sitting when he was doing sports. I assume that is the new interview set(News Conference 4 set) . Can't wait to see it fully used tomorrow during Today In LA, & 5pm & 6pm. And remember KNBC doesn't do things like other stations. Most stations roll out new set, music & graphics at the same time. Remember when they debut the old set, graphics and music came months later. They will probably do that when the HD switch is turned on. mbhcity 3
Then again, KNBC used a cheap set during the late 80's and early 90's; and an even cheaper set from 90's to 2003. fxgroup 0
KNBC-TV's new set was designed and built by FX Group. We've posted some renderings online and hope to have photos ASAP. http://www.fxgroup.tv/portfolio/knbc/?utm_source=tvnt&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=tvnt_knbc_link Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/3397-knbc-new-hi-def-set/page/2/#findComment-32766 Share on other sites
fxgroup 0
KNBC's new desk looks simliar to KATU's new desk. This set was also designed and built by FX Group. The desks are similar in some ways, but do have some differences; mainly in the rounded parts on the far left and right. newsdude 60
The stations are now racing to build new HD sets because of FCC mandate of February 2009 to convert to High Definition production and transmission of programs. You will see more stations rushing to build new facilities, install new equipment and studio sets. Basically putting off what should have done a few years ago; in essence they are making up for lost time. There is no HD mandate -- it's a digital mandate. Stations don't need a new set to go digital, it just involves changing how they transmit their signals. rtmclaug 67
I have to say, the new set looks sharp. Do you have any other pictures of the new set? I would like to see what the weather center looks like. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/3397-knbc-new-hi-def-set/page/2/#findComment-34404 Share on other sites
