GTFO!!!!! No more Tampa Bay's 10 News? Awwwwwwl Hell No. IMO, That's a step in the wrong direction for TSP. And it seems some more stations would use the "Information Center" banner.

WGRZ appears to be phasing in the "information center" slogan, they have a "live from the information center" banner for an online financial chat on their site today.

As of Thursday, no new graphics at WGRZ--I would expect to see something by Monday at the earliest. IMHO they should take the opportunity to get a new set as well...

Still no change in Cleveland. The only notable change was the sponsor for WKYC, but still the same graphics. Probably trying to hold on to them as long as they can.

yeah, and just think we here are next most likely. I better prepare my TV now for that Twangy music that sounds like a kid playing music with a bungee cord or have one end of a rubber band in their teeth, and playing music with that. Also with the getting rid of long time names with Tampa Bay's 10. I almost wonder if the days of Newschannel 5 are numbered too at KSDK..... if so, then might as well give Channel 4 the title of number one in st louis, espically if they come up with a crappy name like 10 Connects....

The way WTSP implements it gives me hope that WKYC will have some latitude in their opens still. I do think they'll be one of the last with it, but between them and WCSH/WLBZ, it'll be very interesting to see the execution.

WTSP made a low blow when changing from Tampa Bay's 10 to 10 Connects. Sadly, they make WFTS (ABC Action News) look good -- and FTS has a lower rank than TSP. I would hate to see WXIA be forced to give up The Tower and/or possibly "11 Alive".

 

It will be odd to hear them (WXIA) not using The Tower, but they use shitty cuts of it anyways. In the early to mid '90s they changed their name to "11 News" and that didn't go well with the community, so I think "11Alive" is here to stay.

There was no official story or news time devoted to it at WUSA, but the talent were bantering about it. (i.e. Brett Haber, sports anchor, gloating that his musical open sounds better than the weather open.)

I love the graphics but....I apologize if this is going to come off as yelling but I will. I HATE THAT F'N THEME. You are going to see stations that had personality and uniqueness with their visual and audio aspects like KARE, KPNX, WXIA, and KUSA go down the crapper. Who's next to do this cookie-cutter plan, Scripps? If that happens Tampa will become an all cookie-cutter market.

 

WTSP was just fine the way it was with it's gfx, their music was ehhh, I still would've loved to hear Always Worth Your Time or Enforcer New Generation I (Yes, I love that theme especially the close) instead of Seize The Day. The logo looks like they are trying to modernize their 2 colored 1978-1989 "Sunset 10" logo except in red, I liked the last one and even the "WCAU on water" logo before it. The name "10 Connects" just doesn't make sense to me. Yes, I know it connects to it's viewers but why don't we have "9 Dominates" Eyewitness News here in O-Town because they do that to it's competition or "9 Invades" which is what all of the stations are doing the Anthony Family but it's very justified. I'm sure the "Connects" moniker will not last, although WFAA and WUSA's use of News Now has lasted even though it sounds like the title of a news promo, not the whole newscast.

 

I always said Gannett was one the few big market stations groups that let it's stations be unique, well now that title from me has gone to Belo. As far as the music is concerned, I'm sure i'm in the same boat as many others who actually like the Fox and H-A themes but cannot stand the Media General theme. I hope Gannett wakes up and figures out "eww...this theme doesn't go with this station/market".

Regarding the theme, KTHV debuted the new graphics, and judging from the video on their website they're using the new theme for the open but are using the old theme and graphics for the stingers. Not sure how long that will last...

Now that would really be an ironic outcome, since these graphics are made by a crew based out of KUSA. The graphics are OK, albeit plain in spots. I noticed here that in many spots WUSA are still using their old GO based graphics, or even altering a number of them to fit the new blue color scheme. Operation Football still uses the red L3 scoreboard. Many of their election based graphics remained unchanged. It seems to me that the new Gannett standard graphics aren't as versatile as they should have been.

 

Still, the graphics ar good, they just need a bit more polishing.

 

As for the music... I'd get Gari to make a quick variation of Advantage (WFSB) as replacement. It's not my favorite theme, but it sounds better than this theme. But it's still similar enough to not be a jarring change.
