cooldude11379 0 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Does anyone know the real date when WNYW suppose to go HD I herd they are going HD very soon but I dont know if its true or not. I also wonder if WWOR will go HD at the the same time like KKTV did with there sister station.
Dave Lampstein 124 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 No date has been made public yet... and one would assume that both would go HD at the same time. I really don't know much about WNYW/WWOR's facilities so it would be hard to make any guesses.
Jess 1116 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 WWOR is located in separate facilities in New Jersey - so it shouldn't be assumed that both will go HD at the same time.
cooldude11379 0 Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 ok i did a search on when wnyw hd 10/29/08 this is what i found RTNDA - Member News David Hatcher to be the EP of the 10:00 News at WNYW ... They'll start their HD newscasts next week from their new production facility, the NewsPlex. ... http://www.rtnda.org/pages/home/member-news.php - but when u click on it it only talks about david hatcher becoming the EP of wnyw and not there hd lanuch but this is what i found about their hd lanuch newscast can anyone calirfy that for me if that search is true or not.
Weeters 1969 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Those are two completely different stories. David Hatcher to be the EP of the 10:00 News at WNYW He's currently the assistant ND at WBZ-TV in Boston. and A big market approach to news helps WBOC compete in a tough market They'll start their HD newscasts next week from their new production facility, the NewsPlex.
cooldude11379 0 Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 thank u for clarfying that for me it makes much more sense now. I am sure when ever fox 5 news is ready to go hd they will make an announcment about it i hope.
swillh2k2 205 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 thank u for clarfying that for me it makes much more sense now. I am sure when ever fox 5 news is ready to go hd they will make an announcment about it i hope. When they do switch, I don't think they'd move to a new studio after less than two years with the O&O set--pretty sure it's HD ready. Only change would be making the GFX HD ready as well if they aren't already.
cooldude11379 0 Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 they are ready here is the new hd logo all they have to do is make that switch and know one knows when the switch date is yet.
RGSJenkins 435 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 WWOR is located in separate facilities in New Jersey - so it shouldn't be assumed that both will go HD at the same time. But they share videos and stories with each other.
cooldude11379 0 Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 that is true about sharing the same stories they even share the same reporters but from what i saw in there dtv story last nite they showed wwor control room in new jersey and it looks like they are no way near hd ready they are still in sd format so i am guessing that wnyw will go hd first before wwor will.
Geoffrey 873 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 they are ready here is the new hd logo all they have to do is make that switch and know one knows when the switch date is yet. I doubt that's actually their HD logo... I don't think FOX 5 is ready to replace the "FOX" in their logo with "HD"... looks like it's just something that they came up with for the segment.
Ntropolis 598 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I doubt that's actually their HD logo... I don't think FOX 5 is ready to replace the "FOX" in their logo with "HD"... looks like it's just something that they came up with for the segment. It'd prolly rotate between "FOX" and "HD."
Vlad 332 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 It'd prolly rotate between "FOX" and "HD." Just like the one in Fox 11. It certainly looks like they are ready to do it sooner or later and that is the keyword "Soon". If the west coast flagship can do it, then I don't see why the east coast flagship cannot do the same as well...
Jess 1116 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 The new Fox O&O package - for HD stations - indeed has the "Fox" part rotating to "HD" and back. Judging by the screencap WNYW should be debuting HD fairly soon.
NYNews 54 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Well in recent promos for syndicated shows (ie: simpsons, TMZ on TV) they've been using the old linear "FOX5" logo.
NYNews 54 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Just like the one in Fox 11. It certainly looks like they are ready to do it sooner or later and that is the keyword "Soon". If the west coast flagship can do it, then I don't see why the east coast flagship cannot do the same as well... That's one strange thing. It seems the West Coast always get things done before us on the East. (only exception WNBC, first to go HD)
IceManNYR 240 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 At the end of Sports Extra Duke said, "See you next Sunday Night, in high def."
NYNews 54 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 It's a good time for transition, with sweeps beginning and all. So no word yet on WWOR?
IceManNYR 240 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I wonder if they will go HD starting with GDNY or do you think it might be at 10pm on Monday?
NYNews 54 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Well, interestingly enough, all stations that have gone HD has launched it during a broadcast that statistically has low viewership. WCBS(New at Noon), WPIX(Saturday Night), WABC(Weekend, I think it was a Sunday). I guess if there are glitches, there wouldn't be too many viewers to notice them. Let's see if WNYW will also follow?
cooldude11379 0 Posted November 3, 2008 Author Posted November 3, 2008 i hope they start hd tonight at 5pm but who knows? but i wonder if there set is hd ready or they are going to move into a new one when they lanuch hd?
Vlad 332 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 At the end of Sports Extra Duke said, "See you next Sunday Night, in high def." Well then there is the answer. If what Iceman heard is true then it will happen next week and not this week... They are probably going to just get new HD cameras and leave the set intact, like WABC did in 2006.
cooldude11379 0 Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 i dont know if anyone notice it last night on fox5 news they had a new Live logo it was small i dont know if it was only for election night or that was there new hd live logo and its here to stay.
cooldude11379 0 Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 ok its is offical now fox5news had made an annoucnment on myfoxny.com with there live blog. Bret Larson said along with mike woods and the traffic girl which i dont know her name yet but Bret said that two things will be happing on monday he said one is that they are going to have a new black berry and the other is good day will be in hd. In the begging which i caught very little of they said they will be getting new hd graphics and new weather system which will probably in hd. So that is the offical announcement
Vlad 332 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Nice, it was about time, would've been nicer if they had debut it in time for Election Day, but that's fine... I guess the set will remain intact. Its a huge set anyway so I don't think they'll have any angle or safe area issues..
