How arrogant. Please, explain what a #1 market back-drop is supposed to look like...

This should not surprise you. You know how pompous and self important New Yorkers are.

That's a ridiculous statement there, IceMan...all of the NYC stations have shitty backdrops. Most NYC stations are awful journalistically and aesthetically...

By the way, it's been confirmed that the 5pm newscast is finally going back to a full hour.

It's better than LA...

My friend, comparing LA tv news to New York is like comparing a Lincoln Continental to a Ford Pinto.

TWO WORDS: Lauren Sanchez

ANOTHER FOUR WORDS: IS YOUR BETTY READY?

Ok, the comment might have been a bit over the top, I just wish they had a better cover up then the glass wall. Why not put another flat screen behind the anchors with a NYC sky line?

They can borrow that 100+ inch one from the new Late Night studio.

Well, that would defeat the purpose of having a newsroom, wouldn't it? If it was on a track like the other one, it might work.

I think something that could work would be putting a cityscape duratran up at the back of the newsroom, something like one on the old 5pm set.

I rode the PATH train today to catch a ride on the new trains, no luck there. But when I was at Journal Square, I saw news and weather updates with their graphics on their PATHVISION screen. I would've taken a picture of it, but PATH is very ANAL with people taking pictures without a permit.

On a slightly related note, I was on the M14D, and it looks like they had LED ad panels on the outside of the bus...I wonder if any of the NY Stations would put a headline service on it or something...

I just saw a promo for NYNN for the new digital channel. It says it will start Monday. So i guess there'll be a full hour of news at 5pm starting Monday.

I hope those aren't the new NYNN graphics. Yuck.

Yeah... I did see a report on the launch though, and it looks like Artworks did some Regis and Kelly-esque 3D stuff for the channel.

It's an hourlong 5pm newscast though...why would they have to recompensate anything, other than moving Extra to 7pm?

Doesn't Access Hollywood air at 7:30? Why do need to air another synde Deal or No Deal although I can understand the reason they did that because RNN airs it twice at 5 and 6:30.

I noticed Melissa Russo is on with DeMarco Morgan.

I had thought Morgan was doing 6pm and 11pm solo or are they both on for sweeps month?

On Saturdays Melissa and Morgan anchor the 6pm and 11pm together and Sundays DeMarco goes solo.

On my DirecTV guide, Demarco Morgan is listed as the anchor for the 6pm and 11pm weeknight newscasts. Do you guys think it's an error on DirecTV's part (Which I think it is) or is it a sign of some changes down the road?

I have Cablevision and noticed the same thing on the weeknight 6 and 11 pm shows. Very interesting. Probably just a mistake though.

On Wednesday, I managed to take only 1 picture of what I saw at Journal Square. There's no sound, just pictures of the stories, the open, and the "4 New York" promos. Luckily, no PATH officer saw me because a train was blocking them. :awesome:
