nynewsguy 66
Well, the big announcement came this morning on "Live" that this will be Regis' last year on the show. No talk on a replacement, obviously. Start the speculation. Vlad 325
He's expected to leave by the end of the summer presumably at the end of the television season. He's 79 and he's been hosting this show for a quarter of a century. I wonder if Mark Consuelos, Kelly's husband might take over? I think they are gonna do the same thing they did back when Kathee Lee Gifford left. When they spent two years cycling with various guest co-hosts until they found Kelly Ripa. Now on to Regis himself, I gotta say that he's probably a legend just like the other big hosts like Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek he's had a legendary career definitely a revered man. I don't think we'll see trends like this anymore where this much time is spend in a position. He's been on the show for 28 years. Definitely a feat. abric 178
No one can replace Regis. Case closed. It won't be the same without him. He has also been a true storyteller. 24994J 5577
We all know that the ratings will suffer without him, and when taking into account Oprah's looming departure, this year will be just a big slap in the face to most of the ABC owned-and-operated stations (WLS not included, concidering they don't air R&K). Weeters 1916
In b4 "The show will be canceled and WABC will build their megasuperset.". You know someone will say it eventually. TennTV1983 804
The show will go on regardless of who replaces Regis, but that person will have some very big shoes to fill for something that's been on for almost three decades. With that said, ABC (or whatever company produces the show) has its hands full in trying to find a suitable replacement. Regardless of who they pick as his replacement, Nobody, and I mean Nobody can fill Mr. Philbin's shoes. Well historically the stations did great before these shows came on...I remember when Regis and Kathie Lee first joined KABC in 91 after AM LA was cancelled after 20 years and they've been doing great.
