Two Seven Network promos with NBC music packages:

ADS7 (Adelaide) promo from 1985 with "Let's All Be There" featuring Kevin Crease, Anne Fulwood and Keith Martyn:

Seven News promo from 1988, shortly after they began using "The Mission":

Ah, before an after the Adelaide affiliation switch! In 1987, ADS7 and SAS10 simultaneously changed both their network affiliations and their broadcast channel numbers to become ADS10 and SAS7. The simultaneous switch meant that, for the viewers, Seven Network programming stayed on Channel 7 in Adelaide, and Ten programming stayed on Channel 10, but the local newscasts and any other local programming switched channels. (There was -- and still is -- no syndicated programming in Australia, which made things quite a bit simpler.)

This is how the two stations covered the switch:

Finally, WLWT’s “News Channel 5” intro! That era I believe lasted a year and a half, as by May 1992 they switched back to “News 5”. Also had no idea WTVC held on to the WRGB 1986 Theme that long, and plus WTVG’s open is a treat as well.

Is it just me or does Ed Hopkins sound noticeably off in the WNYT opens? Also those opens look nothing compared to what followed when Channel 13 debuted “Prime News”.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Also, it really does show how sedate the squares look was compared to what succeeded it at stations like KTVI and WNYT.

We'd need more late 80s material and maybe an open that's not pitch corrected.

There's also a hunk of KVIA News 7 Nightcast in February 1991, featuring Chris Chesrown and Raymond Mesa (who later became the main anchor at KDBC):

Lori is still there. There until the end.

That's too bad about the Elko station, but Lori is one of the best out there in my humble opinion. Whatever she does next, she will excel.

About 6 or 7 years ago, a firm I was working with was developing a news department at one of the radio stations in town and she helped us build our network of contacts in the area. She helped share leads and resources when possible. She didn't treat us as a competitor and thought it was more important that additional voices were available to get the word out about stories in the community. I've never forgotten that and appreciate what she did for us to this day.

KTVY actually began Going All Out 4 Oklahoma as early as ‘86

That guy has been posting some great OKC stuff for a while. I'm a bit envious! I've hit a number of thrift stores both in the OKC Metro and in southern Oklahoma for tapes over the course of the years and I've come up short. The stuff I've picked up is mostly cable or DFW which is fairly easy to come by in comparison.

That's among the best compilations yet! That KOCO open at 30 minutes in — how many branding ideas did they have just in the 1992-95 period?

I mean, let's look.

August 1992 - Still using the 1990 TVbD look (very Gannett red-white-blue) with some custom/station-made opens.

April 1993 - New open and graphics with the 80s "5" in a box. (The whole open looks sped up!)

Late 1993 - A slender "5" with the same graphics; the news is now "5 News". I believe this set was done by John Christopher Burns. The open reminds me a bit of WTLV at this time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Vlq-pIpfbv4;t=774

1994 - The logo changes *again* along with new music.

1995 - By the time of the Oklahoma City bombing, KOCO has a new circle 5 logo and Primetime News.

What were they thinking!? Four or five logo changes in just a handful of years!

It's amazing to see how much Albany news changed in a mere 18 months, especially looking at old news articles and realizing that almost every newscast had some sort of turnover between those timepoints. Those WTEN opens have me welling up from all the nostalgia, they may have been the #3 station by an actual margin at that point and their graphics and music were a bit chintzy but they went out and did their best against a growing WNYT and WRGB careening into its dork age.

To WRGB's credit, that closing cut of Making a Difference was WRGB in the 90s and survived until the station had a total image reset for their 70th Anniversary in 1998 when it was pushed aside for InSink.

If that’s the case, then I’m guessing Jcbd did WTLV’s 1994 open too?

1995 - By the time of the Oklahoma City bombing, KOCO has a new circle 5 logo and Primetime News.

According to YouTuber Erick Church who commented on thenightbeat’s KOCO open, they debuted that look in the summer of ‘94, but I have a feeling it might’ve been in early ‘95 (maybe February).
