WWUpdate 1293 Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 From Australia, here's the 1995 open of Nine's Nightline -- Does anyone know if that's one of the original cuts of the WNT theme from Score Productions or if it's a slightly modified version?
WWUpdate 1293 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 From Compubit's wonderful compilation of Italian news opens, here's TTNews24 in the Tuscan town of Carrara (pop.: 65,000) using NewsSeries 2000 Plus / Stimulus.
WWUpdate 1293 Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 QTQ9, Brisbane, Australia, 1984 (starting at the 0:17 mark); parts of the theme sound a lot like 615 Music's "Something's Happening Here" -- a coincidence or something more?
Samantha 2906 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 QTQ9, Brisbane, Australia, 1984 (starting at the 0:17 mark); parts of the theme sound a lot like 615 Music's "Something's Happening Here" -- a coincidence or something more? I'm going to say coincidence. 615 was a small regional player at the time, and the chronology would be incorrect anyway.
WWUpdate 1293 Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 There are are least two U.S. themes in this compilation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROT0kdXia5k The 1980 WGN News Theme and the theme from Back to the Future (its second use as a news theme!),

Samantha 2906 Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Nuevo Laredo counts, right? I believe this would be early-mid 2000s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=JA6M1yJNI8Y;t=127
WWUpdate 1293 Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 Here's Channel 5 in Singapore using Gari's Where It All Happens in the 1990s and early 2000s:
onthesea 292 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 América TV (channel 2 in Buenos Aires) used a cut of The One and Only for its morning newscast, around 1997. And even was used in a parody of that newscast!
WWUpdate 1293 Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 Here's a clip of Televisa in Mexico using MacArthur Park as the theme of its Hoy Mismo newscast in the 1980s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=kimgQ1PwqMY;m=1;s=8
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 It seems REN TV in Russia used Killer Tracks' Action News in the late 90's...
WWUpdate 1293 Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 Speaking of Russia, Channel 4 in Yekaterinburg has used both Image News and In-Sink. Here's a 2003 clip featuring In-Sink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=l03pKVtzEvE;t=9
Samantha 2906 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Last time on the Mark Haffner Music World Tour... A cut from On Your Side somehow made its way to Belize on Love TV! (That doubles the number of stations ever found using the package — though two more are listed by the NMSA besides WKRN). Tonight... It's an African twist, as GBC24, the newscast of GTV in Ghana, has a...Leading Edge! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=mA4XMp6cFZ4;t=880 And as a special bonus... In that same video, Guatevisión with Magnum!
WWUpdate 1293 Posted April 1, 2017 Author Posted April 1, 2017 Gari's Eyewitness News and Empire make an appearance in this compilation of opens used by Romania's PRO TV since 1995:
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 This compilation of Ta Nea Toy opens from Greece's ANT1 features an interesting surprise: namely, a longer version of a theme once used in a (probably unused) NBC Nightly News open found in the NewsActive3 archives (I forget which part off-hand), about 15 years after its original appearance across the pond! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=62CrRfqduoA;t=54 Interestingly, the open prior to this one also features the "mustache laser cameraman" animation used in numerous American and foreign opens much earlier... EDIT: Here's the original open: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Vlq-pIpfbv4;m=5;s=32
