When I saw that this morning, I thought to myself "wow that's new". I like that they're trying something different (sort of). Then again, it depends on the reason. I know weather can be unpredictable at times and you want to stay on top of it as best as you can, and I feel this helps them and possibly viewers with that. Maybe I'm missing something here, but if that's the case, then kudos to KABC for it. Also, it's kind of left me wondering: do you guys see other stations (other ABC O&Os at least) adopting these "Weather Change Alerts" or just KABC?

Sorry, another post, but happy news... Meteorologist Sarah Wroblewski is coming back home to WBZ-TV after a nearly three year hiatus. She was away because her son was facing brain cancer, but now that she's back, she'll be back on her weekend routine for WBZ-TV.

Probably gutted or moth-balled for a while. It always looked tight in there. 3A looks nicer now since MSNBC left and it was re-modeled.

Anywhere in any field, 40 years in one place is a real achievement.

Even the best don't make the right decisions every time. Part of being a leader is knowing when you've been beat. Then you minimize the damage and change course. This seems like a good move for everyone involved.

I get your point but a news leader is supposed to lead and be innovative, not follow others, but sometimes you have to look at what the competition is doing and sometimes they lead in things that the undisputed news leader in Southern California hasn’t fully catched on with. I don’t fully agree with the decision making of KABC in this case but I understand why they are doing it, and that is the bottom line.

As for the Nexstar podcasts that are strictly online, does anyone actually watch them in great number. They seem to be filling dead air with journalists' passion projects or hobbies. Im curious what the numbers are for streamers like WTEN+ or WPIX+

There's no reason it can't be for both reasons.

CBS/Paramount/Skydance doesn't want them. They don't even want the stations they already have.

In my opinion Nexstar should sell there major market CBS stations to Paramount/Skydance that’s Raleigh, Birmingham, Indy, Portland.

I mean that seems pretty risky, even if your reporters aren't near the building itself they still could've gotten swept up with crews running away or a dust cloud

Frank and Jessica obviously outlasted the others who anchored the morning news before them and heck they are the most tenured main anchors at the station as a whole right now. We also can't forget the early morning news people from past to present because they are part of the story too and that includes Sharon Tay, Emmett Miller, Cher Calvin, Lu Parker, Asha Blake, and presently Megan Henderson and Chris Schauble.

Just a little update, but as of mid-last week, NBC News Daily has now also moved into 3A. Looks like they might be using a former MSNBC desk, though I’m not sure. The overall graphic motif is similar to what they had in 3C (or whatever that studio was renamed.) I wonder what NBC might do with that space now that it’s totally vacant.

They were part of the story, and perhaps they (PIX, NN, and Nexstar as a whole) were rolling the dice on the building actually collapsing and being the station who already had everything in place to capture and cover it (dark, but a possibility). Other people noting that court shows would have normally been on during some of this coverage- be honest- Live coverage of the building yesterday beats a court show rerun hands down.

More BS kool-aid from Nexstar. Sure, they can expand newscasts until they're blue in the face. But when the content pool diminishes from reporter layoffs, cutting news feeds, and reliance on "old" news to fill the time. I've noticed a marked increase in "regional" news on Nexstar stations (and others like Gray that have taken over large swaths of the country). Basically, the stations are feeding each other and less and less is devoted to covering the actual news in their area. The result is a watered-down product that everyone loses from because it's the same thing across a large swath of stations, making the very concept of "local news" a farce. It's very well possible that a local station could not have a single LOCAL story on a very slow news day.

It could be Nexstar Corporate Office on 6th Ave near the Central Park, you can tell by large outdoor green space opening.

Cheers to 35 years! LA's iconic KTLA Morning News went on the air 35yrs ago today! RIP to Sam Rubin. Up until earlier this year the 7am-11am portion of the program only had one weatherman the entire time....the great Mark Kriski. Sadly, he was let go earlier in the year due to Nexstar layoffs. The KTLA team still supports him as you can see by his recent IG posts. Morning reporter/fill in anchor Eric Spillman is the only original member of the program left at the station today. Each of the anchor parings across the years....Carlos/Barbara, Carlos/Giselle Fernandez, Carlos/Michaela Pereira, Frank Buckley/Michaela and now Frank/Jessica Holmes carry on the great tradition of ensuring the show exudes "LA's Very Own."
