  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah I feel you on that. LA's theme worked for LA.
  3. Well, thank goodness Mark is going to be okay. Seems to say he'll be back soon. Wishing Mark, one the originals from the KTLA Morning News still going strong, a speedy recovery. https://ktla.com/morning-news/ktlas-mark-kriski-recovering-from-mild-stroke/
  4. Today
  5. Honestly, What the heck is going on here? Adell and WADL is not gonna make an LMA with Nexstar or Mission. At this point, it should've just made an deal with Sinclair and made it an day. Look, The CW will have an affiliate in Detroit, Miami and Tuscon, no matter the cost. WDIV already kinda cleared the way by dropping ThisTV and putting on CoziTV, probably and possibly as an substitute before September 1. I don't know about any of the Tuscon or Miami stations plans on the CW. And just for the whole Perry Sook case, I would rather have him own WDAF-TV and the St. Louis Duopoly of KTVI-KPLR than let Sinclair even have its hands on the stations, because at least with Nexstar, none of the stations are bankrupt or at least went near-bankrupt, or shuted down any of the news departments, but Sinclair did all of that and more. I mean, SINCLAIR could've killed off KSMO-TV for all it took, and it lost the chance of the CW because of that and was only saved because KCTV5 and the MEREDITH CORPORATION MADE AN DEAL TO AQUIRE KSMO. And for KDNL..... Do I have to explain it to y'all? Google it. Holy WTOK, I'm losing brain cells. (Sorry if it went off-topic kinda quick, I just had to rant)
  6. Why would Nexstar want to do business with that moron? An LMA or TBA would be totally impossible for the same exact reason why the FCC killed off the SSA Nexstar tried to engineer with Mission ... before Kevin Adell acted like a petulant little child, of course. Let's face facts. The CW is going to wind up with no affiliates in Detroit, Miami and Tucson come September 1, and Miami in particular was because Perry Sook was greedy AND stupid and sold off markets he never should have just to keep triopolies or quadolopies in Little Rock and Youngstown or massive Vs like WJW. He deserves this.
  7. That would be an ironic end-around, since Nexstar would basically be doing what the FCC severely restricted them from doing had the station been transferred to Mission.
  8. I guess WABC is really catchy since a lot of stations used it and now arguably the second most watched station in the nation is now on it haha. I just feel like the theme is too slow and heavy and doesn't capture the spirit of the Southland, in my opinion. It's not a bad theme but its just still odd to hear it played there, I don't think i'll ever get over that change haha. It sounds too rough and heavy, you know what I mean? Its LA, not New York haha. New York is hard, heavy and dark, gritty, LA is smooth, chill and bright. Their previous theme really captured that, this one, just does not fit for me, I hope they loose it sooner than later, haha. Personally.. Not to go offtopic, though, but I've always wondered, where does a station store the music anyway? Is it software that digitally controls all of the music or is everything just automated? Like does a person simply press a button that says "bumper" and we hear it? Or is each cut assigned a button, etc? I wish there was a behind the scenes of sorts that shows us how this stuff works haha. I feel like it shouldn't be hard for them to implement more cuts and sounds and variations, etc.. I still very dearly miss the New Generation KABC themes.. , especially the morning theme that was so nice and fitting for them. I guess i'm admittedly a huge fanboy of these themes .
  9. It looks really good! I love this cut of Inergy! They were previously using this cut for their 6PM news open when they dropped the NBC peacock from their logo.
  10. WECT went GrayONE as of Noon today.
  11. They could wait till the Winter Games in 2026 (also a Super Bowl year for NBC). There's some prescience for that. Look F was rolled out leading up to the 2012 games which also were a Super Bowl year. I agree Look S still looks very good and on par with the other O&O designs. I just hope they don't plan on waiting till then to update their stations' logos to the new Peacock design.
  12. Since the deal is dead, Mission won't be involved at all. Adell may cut an LMA with Nexstar. At that point, it will still be the worst station in Detroit, both operationally and programming-wise, but Adell will continue to do the RTC deals.
  13. This is Vulture Capitalism for you.
  14. Not sure if it’s been mentioned but Derrick Waller appeared as a reporter on the dayside last week. I’m not a regular WCBS viewer so unsure if this was freelance or if he’s fully joined WCBS. Hoping for the latter as he’s a great reporter and it’s a shame WABC wasn’t able to accommodate his request to move off mornings.
  15. I take these updates as a confirmation that we’re not gonna see a Look T for the Paris Olympics? Makes sense since the Tokyo delay made it such that Look S debuted in 2021? In any case Look S looks great and I wouldn’t mind if it stuck around for longer.
  16. Seems like they first started it on April 8.
  17. They aren't and they won't. And it's why linear television is a dying industry, the so-called "golden goose" was killed off by the likes of Perry Sook, David Smith and Hilton Howell.
  18. Yesterday
  19. All the while the customers are being invisibly gouged with an inferior product and the employees who keep things running are overworked and underpaid. Reinvest in the product and the employees a little more...
  20. The WABC theme is still powerful and catchy... the bumper theme is still pretty good. The *only thing I'd want to see replace it is the return of Cool Hand Luke....the orchestral bumper theme for that was the best.
  21. What is excess profit? Corporations are in businesses to provide value to shareholders. Persistent growth is the objective. There is no such thing as excess profit.
  22. Basically we still have ownership rules because of companies like Sinclair and Nexstar. We still have ownership rules because companies not only try and game the rules to get more stations, but to use the stations in the pursuit of excess profit for the company and the benefit for the company of reaching more people to spread "their" content. Sell the airwaves to the highest bidder and give their cronies the mic to spread the word. It's a little more complicated than that, but this is TV ownership in a nutshell these days. The only way it will change is when the system breaks and viewers can no longer get the essential information they need because the companies have sold out to the point they can no longer afford to keep the lights on.
  23. DW News has debuted new graphics, including a new thumbnail design (getting rid of the old serif font), and lower thirds, which seem to be leaning towards a deeper shade of blue then what the network has used in the past. Intro and in studio graphics are the same but those might change too, will watch over the coming days for any other changes.
  24. Harry doing some more Nexstar/Mission stanning about WADL this morning. Unlike Harry Styles though, the broadcasting industry is no longer 'as it was'. Come on man, this is the worst station in Detroit outside the HC2 signals that seem to exist to give electric companies dependable cash for nothing. It'll still be the worst station in Detroit under Nexstar/Mission, AND we all forget that they won't have carriage on DirecTV once their current Adell contract ends because Mission's RTC people think they can charge a fortune for a CW+ or Foxnet schedule. Kevin Adell, Perry Sook, and Nancie Smith all deserve what they've reaped here.
  25. They do have an awkward and unwieldy logo (the "12" is much wider than the "Fox") so simplifying it for the mic flag was a good idea. Portland may also have a strong "anti-Fox" sentiment as well, so the less ties to the national news channel, the better. But if Gray is separating network identity for their affiliates, it may be a very tough sell, especially for their longer-tenured affiliates that have co-branded for decades.
