  1. WIS Chief Meteorologist John Farley's contract wasn't renewed, yesterday was his last day. They chose a really bad time to do this considering all of the floods they've had recently. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2015/10/8/raycom-cans-chief-met-in-middle-of-massive-storm An awkward situation in an unnamed Fox O&Os newsroom http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2015/10/6/and-this-is-your-news-director

  6. From Christmas Day 1976, the 11 PM report of WTAJ's TV10 Action News, featuring a looong (4 minutes!) special close. The channel also has other bits and pieces from WTAJ in the late 70's and early 80's.

  7. Welp they're hiring full time replacement photogs and techs now. This is getting ugly: http://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/morning_roundup/2015/10/nbc10-ibew-local-98-photog-strike-replacement-hire.html

  9. Although this may be somewhat off-topic, here's something interesting about Scripps' purchase of the Journal stations: from what transpired just yesterday (October 7), it appears that Journal's decision to unload its broadcasting properties and add Scripps' newspapers may have been the precursor to the sale of that company. Gannett bought Journal for $280 million, which means that the newspaper assets of two publishers that used to be broadcasters and one broadcaster that used to be a publisher are now going to be part of one company. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2015/10/07/gannett-buy-journal-media-group-280-million/73548926/

  10. I wouldn't read too much into it. Mornings are covered with Lori & Ken, Noon is covered with Shirleen & David, 4 is covered with Liz & David, 5 is covered with Sade & Diana, 6 is covered with Liz & Bill, 11 is covered with Sade & Bill. Weekend mornings are covered with Michelle & Rob, weekend evenings are covered with Sandra & Joe. More then likely WABC hasn't removed the job posting after hiring Shirleen as anchor/reporter (anchor noon, report 4, 5 & 6).

  11. The elimination of the CNN-esque animated box on the left-hand side of the screen would be enough of an update. Otherwise, the package is fine the way it is. Scripps and Renderon created this package to last a long time. And it's world's away from the 2010 standardized look (and music especially).
