  1. And it was on KXAN, no doubt, though seeing as how Nexstar's headquarters are here in the DFW area (or more specifically, in Irving), it kind of makes sense. Well Mr. Sook, I've got an idea: after the FCC incentive auction, why not bring back the Station Venture Holdings (this time being Station Venture Holdings II, LLC), complete with NBC 5 DFW and NBC 7/39 with NBC having a majority stake on both stations (76% to be exact, while Nexstar will have a 24% stake). This time, it's in exchange for a minority stake in WFLA and KXAN (NBC owning 24%, while Nexstar will own the majority (74%)).

  3. SUPER RARE 1997-98 Birmingham, AL Video!! See the radical transition from WBMG 42 to WIAT 42 Daily News, which included blowing up all newscasts/branding. The video shows everything from how much viewers hated the old station, to the transitional countdown clock that ran in place of newscasts, to the new launch of WIAT Daily News... It may be worth someone "saving" this video in case it's ever unavailable. Plus, here's a story from April 1998 from the American Journalism Review. http://ajrarchive.org/Article.asp?id=2317

  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h=1;id=EdkynjibqWs;m=22;s=57 From Sept. 21, 1985: an early-season broadcast of The Prudential College Football Report w/Jim Nantz and Pat Haden (the game it was on was Georgia/Clemson, from Memorial Stadium in Clemson, SC; Brent Musburger and Ara Parseghian were the announcers; the game was also from WSPA Channel 7 [CBS station in my area]). Listen out for quite a few mistakes (one being that Jim quotes Georgia as leading 7-3, when the graphic on the monitor shows Clemson as leading by that score).

  5. Tomorrow! Really though, most of the time the debut date for new sets is on or right before the start of the next sweeps period. Late April is a good early guess for ALL the new sets that are under construction right now.

  6. WNTZ would give KALB some competition finally, although ratings would be a challenge since that station absolutely dominates. Likewise, WWTI would give WWNY some competition...being a pseudo-satellite doesn't preclude news operations (look at WKYT and WYMT, for example).

  8. I know it's already on a few... But they are obviously still doing something with it (like installing new equipment) that means some of them don't have it yet...

  11. Thinking way outside the box here but imagine if possible if Sam ever went back to WABC? He could do the Noon and 5 or the Noon, 4 and 6 and Lee Goldberg could do the others? Like a .000001% chance of happening but hey fun to think
