  1. This PR is definitely not turning out well. Dumb on Bob Iger's part to keep this from Kelly and the "Live" staff. That said, I still think Michael will fit in very well at GMA, he already has such great chemistry with the team and it will only grow stronger with him there 5 days a week.

  2. You realize the "minority" ethnicities of black, Latino and Asian are actually the majority in New York City, right?. Blacks and Latinos alone make up 53% of the NYC population; Asians another 12%. It's too bad you're not satisfied with the fact that the station's 4 weather anchors, 2 sports anchors and 3 of the weekday anchors are Caucasian or that WABC is trying to have a news team that reflects the audience it serves. You've posted on here before about Camille Edwards forcing minorities down your throat. Please, nobody is forcing you to watch. You can change the channel to other stations. Be forewarned, however, some of them are even more diverse than Ch. 7 is. Maybe you're better off moving back to the 1950s.

  3. Trust me, I'm not throwing stones at KSHB or any other competitor. Fortunes can flip quickly in this business.

  4. Worth a read from the Hollywood Reporter about Lester Holt: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/lester-holt-his-rise-top-880720

  5. I agree with you 100% about the BEST person getting the job. Your posts just gave the impression you were against minorities being hired.. not against minorities being hired just for the sake of being hired. That said, it is television and you need to hire people who viewers can relate to and viewers often do take ethnicity into account. It might not sit well with many but it's the truth.

  6. If I remember correctly they offered both host a role on GMA because the show was looking for star power after losing two key players. Kelly turned down the deal because she wasn't interested, they offered the role to Michael and he took it.

  8. I've suspected off and on that Juan C. Rodriguez may have composed the WTVJ 2012 Theme. I have no proof/confirmation, only that he mentions WTVJ on his website and references whatever he composed as "NBC WTVJ Local News" .... anyway, who knows! Hard to believe that after 4 years that nothing has shown up in BMI, ASCAP etc sites... if it's there it's listed in such a bizarre way where it's impossible to find it - OR WTVJ paid the composer in such a way where they aren't receiving back-end royalties and it's not listed... http://www.juancrodriguez.com/about Thanks to TMBtD mystery solved... Maybe one of these days somebody will figure out the composer. It'd be cool to know that answer, since it's such a big secret.

  9. ^ you are correct. She was initially offered the GMA role over Michael but she turned it down. ABC approached Michael and that turned out to be an incredible choice of there's. Also, the Washington Post and New York Daily News are now reporting that Kelly and executives had known for months about the upcoming transition. The blindsiding is "nonsense"

  10. Well look at this. After leaving World News Now almost two weeks ago, Reena Ninan has apparently joined CBS News as a correspondant and will also anchor on its online streaming channel, CBSN.

  11. I just found what appears to be two of WABC's new opens. Let's just say, they are quite a bit different than the current package. Same color scheme and same cut of 'Eyewitness News', but the whole look is flatter and kind of blocky. The colors and hard edges remind of KTRK and the transitions of horizontal moving boxes are reminiscent of WLS. That said, it appears to be an all-new package and full-screen, abandoning the safe zone. Very clean and beautiful. I'd post them here, but then they'll probably be privatized and others might not be posted. Message me if you want to see them, or try and find them yourself. They're on Vimeo.

  12. Praytell, Scripps in San Diego is "Weather Rate"... Is there no in house weather branding loyality at Scripps? I would think you could get more Weather Rate or First Weathers Alerts... if the station group purchased in bulk. Kinda like Costco.

  14. A lot of the CSN hires have been iffy, at best, but the 5 main stations have fared pretty well with female sportscasters...Jill Carlson, Peggy Kusinki, Paula Faris, Megan Mawicke, Dionne Miller, and now Magiera, who seems to be competent in her resume reels. I'm probably missing a few (at least it seems like it), but just as there are more men in the field, I can come up with a longer list of weak/poor/lousy guys than gals.

  15. Jill Carlson and Kerry Sayers are pretty good imo. I guess it would depend on what you want/look for in a sportscaster. If someone can adequately articulate scores, plays, nuances/history of sports, pronounce names, etc..., then you're all good in my book.

  16. And KAGS got it before KCEN? Even that's hard to believe.

  18. Jeez, calm down there. You seem like one of those annoying social justice warriors. I can tell because generally they always end a huffy statement with a similar (usually copy and pasted) witty (or what you think is witty) line. In this case it was "Maybe you're better off moving back to the 1950s." I hope you were pleased with that one. And you're off base. I'm for the BEST person getting the job. Whether that be someone who is black, white, asian, hispanic, or purple. If you cared to do any research, you'd see Camille is notorious for replacing well known talent with young minority hires, at the expense of ratings and viewer trust. She has done this well before WABC, it's her MO. As many have said, Shirleen is not here to anchor the noon news.
