  1. So in that case, the only duopoly partner that has any news is KICU as KTVU Plus. So why don't they start bringing news on their duopoly partners (and in the case for many mynet O&Os that were UPN affiliates, bringing news back)?

  2. Not sure how you came to that conclusion. These new weather graphics use the same colors and fonts as the current package (Artworks has produced graphics with a similar title bar layout in the past). An update to this package, maybe, but a whole new package is a bit of a stretch. Sometimes stations get new weather computers and use the opportunity to update the graphics. I mean, this IS WCAU we're talking about, they have a history of deviating from the rest of the O&O's... All I'm saying is don't get your hopes up too much.

  3. I know I supposed to post vintage news opens and newscasts pre-2000, but I found some that might be news related. I found a 1988 episode of $100K Pyramid from 1988 when local news anchor Eric Greene (WUAB/WOIO anchor Now at WEEK) was a contestant on the classic game show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycaZD5ZM-a4

  4. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/billy-bush-exits-access-hollywood-888032 Looks like ABC isn't the only one that's gonna experience changes in the 9am hour. Billy Bush seems to be joining the 9am hour of Today in some capacity. More surprising is that he'll be exiting AHL (which airs at 11am after Today on NBC affiliates in quite a few markets) and AH (which airs at 7:30pm on NBC affiliates in a lot of markets).

  6. Here is a very rare look at how WPCQ done local news in 1982. In this video, you'll notice that WPCQ used the "Q36" logo in their mic flag as well as the Group W "36" logo on the TV screen during the closing. The video features a report on a local high school marching band that participated in the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville. The newscasts on WPCQ in 1982 were known as "Action News" and was affiliated with NBC. Watch at the end of the video, because it features WPCQ's news team on the set. "11 Action News at Noon. Setting The Standard". From 1986, here is a noon news open for KTHV's "11 Action News". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUVyOWXTKfQ From the KLMO-TV Channel 4 YouTube page, here is a KRON "NewsCenter 4" open from 1984. The opening graphics for KRON's news looked very solid and clean. Roz Abrams and Jim Paymar were the anchor team on KRON at the time.

  8. DAMN!!! I hate to say this, but KOMO didn't have this many people leaving the building when Sinclair took over. Dan Lewis was the only that did maybe "retired" so to speak.

  10. If anything, I could see this being a precursor of them picking up Look F 2.0. I don't think they want to make any major changes til they move downtown next year. There really isn't much of a point in doing so.

  11. To me it's more of just using what KNTV has. They have the same layout with the different webcam views and ticker bar at the bottom complete with WeatherUnderground branding. Since WeatherUnderground is a division to The Weather Company I guess they're including this as one of the additional services akin to when WeatherBug provided hyper local forecasts. Their zones are cover a Significant area in their own right. They have Philadelphia, PA Sububurbs, South Jersey, Jersey Shore, Delaware, Lehigh Valley

  12. More from Feder this morning. He states that Insiders are saying that Elgas is the "odds-on favorite" to succeed Alan at 4pm. He also stated that Judy could also "be in line" to replace Linda at 4pm, but as he pointed out "that’s still a long way off".
