  1. They messed up on their story regarding WDJT parking in a disabled spot.

  2. Of course. But if FTVLive is wrong about this issue, it'll make them look more like the TV industry's equivalent to TMZ (as if it doesn't look like that enough sometimes, at least to me).

  3. The current graphics are coming up on 5 years old, the limitations of the package are becoming evident with the graphics dept coming up with new ways to animate the existing graphics to try to meet new demands... Also there are a lot of unnecessary and outdated 3D movements in the current package that aren't in style anymore, especially for DMA 1.

  4. I would think Ravi's gotta be piiiiiiiiiiiiiissed. And he has every right to be. Nothing against Elgas, he's deserving of the spot too, but, um, didn't he already have the same gig at Channel 5? Especially now that they're expanding to 4pm? Plus, Channel 5 has all the momentum right now so is it really any better? I realize Rob left 5 to explore his options, but when the networks didn't come calling, all he did was make a lateral move and get in the way of Baichwal & Bradley moving up at Channel 7. So good for Rob, but it's a shame for Ravi. I bet he ends up leaving since any hope of a weekday spot is now gone. Which is too bad because I love Ravi & Karen. Wouldn't it be ironic if he ends up being Rob's replacement at Channel 5? Channel 2 would be lucky to have him too. Channel 2 should just go ahead and make a play for both Ravi & Karen since rumor has it she'll be passed over too in favor of Judy Hsu when/if the time comes for Linda Yu to retire.

  6. It's one thing for them to be working quietly behind the scenes with Media General to figure out how best to align processes "after" the sale goes through and to make the transition smooth. That is supposed to be the extent of things until the FCC approves. You are right, they are making it glaringly obvious. It's also glaringly illegal, if what they are doing is true.

  7. Nexstar may already have their hands in the Media General Cookie Jar. They can't even wait until their summer station tour blitz to meddle with things. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/5/8/does-nexstar-have-its-hand-in-the-media-general-cookie-jar-already

  8. Looks like no one has posted it here yet... but 10 has quietly and recently launched "NBC 10 Responds". They apparently handle consumer complaints and it's an arm of the NBC 10 Investigators, headed by Hairston.

  9. David is somewhere between 15 and 16 years, because he arrived in 2000 to replace the late Terry Zahn. I think he may have escaped buyout territory by pure luck of being the youngest out of the 15+ years vets at the station. That being said, I think there the ND and GM could protect a percentage of the staff who were eligible from the buyout, if so, then offer up an inference that that is exactly what ended up happening here, for a number of reasons, primarily being that WVEC currently has the oldest evening news crew in the market. Each of the other stations in the past 5-10 years have shuffled their evening lineups, but WVEC has managed, through its own miraculous ability, has kept Regina, David, Jeff and Scot together. So, they ARE poised to be that archetypal "team you know, names you trust" team. And they are poised to make a run for #1 if what many of us believe will occur when Nexstar finishes eating destroying merging with WAVY's parent, LIN Media Media General. In all, even through all the changes in the market (every station except TVZ has changed ownership hands), WVEC has managed to remain pretty even keeled. What I think in the long run this may do, even though it won't help the books, is it will spur some of the older anchors/reporters/staff to go ahead and put in their retirement papers for the simple fact that, they can't get cut down the line if they're already on the pension. I think a lot of these seasoned vets are sensing the writing on the wall with M&As and industry consolidation and automation, that it's better to go out on their own terms rather than be drug to pasture.

  10. Josh Elliott filled in for the first time on CBS This Morning. He now has been on all three network morning shows. I didn't catch the show this morning but according to the comments on TVNewser, he did a good job. http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/josh-elliott-fills-in-as-co-host-on-cbs-this-morning/291477

  11. I see that the live feed of 42nd Street has reared its ugly head again as the backdrop. I can't understand why they love that shot so much when there are so many better views of New York they could use. Every other station has a shot of the world-famous skyline while PIX has... a nondescript intersection. A very pedestrian backdrop - literally!

  12. They are not about to exit their largest market, especially when that market came to their portfolio from the company they are not two and a half years removed from paying a fortune for, largely to get their hands on it.
