  1. Congrats to Bob on his amazing career at WGN. Hard to believe him and Jackie have been paired together for over 20 years. Had Roseanne Tellez stayed on weekends (and at WGN), her and Bob would have been pushing closer to/at 25 years together (if I remember correctly). And had WFLD not pushed Bryon Harlen and Nancy Pender out the door, they would have celebrated 20 yrs. together next year. I can't say who should succeed Bob, but those are some big shoes to fill no doubt. Hopefully they just add a hr. to the weekend morning newscast (5-7A) and leave it at that. No need to go crazy.

  2. Not sure if this was hazing but there have been practical jokes on the hosts. Savannah Guthrie was told that a burger wrapper was edible but really wasn't and Willie Geist ended up eating uncooked hotdogs for a segment on the Nathans Hot Dog Eating Championship.

  3. Wow! Do you know anything more about her departure? That's awfully sudden. She's always seemed like a really nice lady. She had a cool and calm demeanor about her on the desk.

  4. I imagine they have a subscription to TVEyes.

  5. Tahman Bradley has been the primary fill-in anchor for Bob these last few months. Seeing as Jackie always used to anchor solo when Bob was off, but they recently started bringing in Tahman, I got the feeling that Tahman was being groomed for the permanent role.

  7. I don't believe this is an expansion but rather a move. My understanding is the 10pm is moving to 8pm.

  8. WBZ is launching an 8pm newscast on August 29th which will air on WSBK (myTV38). https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10154446117207010 The amount of news expansion in Boston over the past couple of years has been such overkill. These stations barely have enough amusing content to fill the 11pm and yet these expansions continuously happen. I know, I know, the bottom line is the only thing that matters.

  10. How did NBC Archive get the today show weather from , then , and stations at the same time? Like, what resources did he use?

  11. I dislike ending live at 11 because i think it forgets about the west coast

  12. I think it's a good move, I find it absurd that most of the networks go to taped programming at 11pm ET/8pm PT.

  13. I have a very strong feeling that there will definitely be news between 7-8 on the weekends, as 7 goes to GMA for an hour.

  14. I guess you missed this gem in the article... News director Chris Kline, who has orchestrated the newsroom overhaul, said each one of the station’s newscasts was up in the July ratings book, a significant feat for a station whose news programming typically ranked third in the market a year or so ago. The July book??? LOL! That's like "graduating" from the 6th grade.... At least somebody cares about the July book. Great spin Chris Kline... Hilar. You still have a TV station ya moron...how many DOLLARS are each of those Facebook friends worth??? Come on Chris...give me a solid dollar figure for our power point demo. How much is each "like" worth?

  15. Scripps is touting it's "success" at putting digital/social media first at KNXV (which you may recall included replacing the news director with the station's digital director). http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/local-tv/scripps-phoenix-station-thinks-digital-overhaul-newsroom-operations/158819 There's no mention of how this affected ratings, but at least they have 50,000 more fans on Facebook...

  16. That and a clip from a bit earlier, to see when they first started using News '80s in general...

  17. WPIX posted a couple minutes of their 10PM newscast from August 14th, 2003, the day of the 2003 Northeast Blackout, noting that most people couldn't actually watch it as their power was out. Even though there's a very good chance they were running on generator power, you can't even tell that's the case.

  18. Ahh yes, the forgotten station that is 'TVZ. I always hoped SBC would spin them off so WVEC could actually compete with the other two stations in market on news content...

  19. If you force them out of the TV business....then the FCC cannot continue to fine, and collect these giant fines. They are worth more to the FCC "In" business then out of business.

  21. Sinclair slapped with a $ 9.5 Million fine for illegally negotiating retransmission consent for stations they didn't "own or control'. I'm not a Sinclair hater, but that makes 2 fines for illegal operations/negotiations, how many more of these will they rack up before they become RKO and are forced out of the television business.

  22. That is window dressing, it seems that way cause of GMA's slow down but in reality the real strong runner has been CBS This Morning putting a dent on GMA and Today show ratings. Half of the GMA and Today show audience has left and moved on to CBS and other programs. Today show is relying on an olympics boost but interally the program has lost it's zest.

  25. A lot of TEGNA stations need a bit of new stuff, mostly new logos, KENS, WFAA, and even 11Alive being only a few of many examples of stations still needing new logos. At least KXTV got a new logo, even though it isnt the best one out there.
