  2. WMBF news anchor Michael Maely was arrested this past weekend for DUI and speeding around 100 m.p.h. He was off for this past week. This is the second time he's ran into the law. The first time he was charged with trespassing while doing a story but I believe those charges were dropped.

  3. The morning show special is in progress. So far, it's been...exactly what you'd expect. The highlight so far has been Bob and Jackie doing their secret handshake live in a split screen during the commercial break. "I literally haven't seen Jackie Bange in 6 years."

  4. KCOP and KTTV are co-owned by Fox. We already have that with WCBS news at 9 pm on co-owned WLNY. Fox replaced news on co-owned WWOR with the Chasing News experiment that never dies. That way they don't have internal competition for the Ten O'Clock News.

  5. Fybush.com has had extensive coverage of what local TV stations had to do to get a signal back on the air. Most had abandoned ESB years earlier for the WTC, so there were no back ups for the OTA signal (remember that the signal going to Optimum, TWC, Comcast and the sattelite companies is separate and were never interrupted. Over the first couple of days there were many stop gap measures each station took including using the Armstrong tower in Alpine NJ, some UHF stations (which I believe were at ESB) and others. It took time to get power and coverage back after the initial temporary arrangements. I believe WCBS may have been first to get back on the air (again, over the air only) using a UHF station. If you have access to Fybush.com, it is worth a read. I also believe that local reporters and network reporters were doing double duty with each others' coverage despite locally limited the national coverage being a local story. Network programming resumed in the rest of the country long before it did in this DMA.

  6. Well, KXAN (36) continues to be the top solid station in Austin, while KVUE (24) remains the #2 spot; KEYE (42) still dead last and way behind. http://tvradio.blog.austin360.com/2016/08/30/july-tv-ratings-kxan-remains-no-1-in-most-time-slots/

  7. Evan Mecham is the star in this 1987 KPHO news excerpt. A nomination of his was pulled yet again, he wants to trim the state budget, and oh yeah, his approval rating is already through the floor after just 100 days in office:
